Louis Tomlinson: Is The Battle On For One Direction Star’s Image?

In recent months Louis Tomlinson has been subject of a wave of negative stories in some sections of the media. One Direction star Louis has been portrayed, as a drunk, a deadbeat dad and a serial womanizer. Louis has also been accused of making bad business decisions, of manipulating his band-mates and, almost unbelievably, Tomlinson has even been accused of manipulating music mogul Simon Cowell. If you swallow the stories in some sections of the gutter press Louis has been thrown out of clubs, hotels and is despised by band-mate Harry Styles.

It is difficult to pinpoint why Tomlinson has seemingly become public enemy number one. Within the One Direction fandom there are many theories about why the press has turned against Louis, but analysis seems to suggest that a sea change occurred after it was announced that Louis was to become a dad.

Tomlinson’s fans need little reminding of when the U.K. tabloid the Sun broke a news story back in July which stated that the One Directioner had impregnated L.A. stylist Briana Jungwirth. Tomlinson’s fans quickly identified that the writer of the Sun‘s world exclusive was Pete Samson the papers U.S editor. Samson widely quoted an “unnamed source” close to One Direction as the source of his information. The fact is that Samson is married to Anne-Marie Samson whose LinkedIn profile shows her to be Simon Cowell’s head of PR and his “crisis management” expert.

Mr. Samson’s colleague at the Sun, Dan Wootton really stepped up the anti Tomlinson rhetoric with his now infamous article at the end of October. It was claimed that Louis and Harry couldn’t bear to be in the same room, described Louis as a “little s**t” and laid the blame for One Direction’s forthcoming hiatus firmly at Tomlinson’s feet.

In December, the Daily Mail ran a series of articles condemning Tomlinson. It was claimed that Tomlinson “threw the mother of all hissy fits” when he threw his phone across the stage during an interview on Alan Carr’s Chatty Man show. It has even been claimed by MTV that Louis’ band-mates didn’t bother to wish Louis well on his birthday.

Through all of this negativity, Louis and his family have maintained a dignified silence. Until now. It seems that a fightback over Tomlinson’s public image may be beginning. Earlier this week it was reported by the Inquisitr that Tomlinson’s mother, Johannah Deakin, broke her silence about the negativity in a series of Twitter comments that highlighted the wonderful low-key charity work that Louis does.

Tomlinson’s mom revealed that Louis isn’t just an ambassador for children’s charities. Not only does Louis invite sick kids to his shows, he spends time with them and even researches what the children like so that he can leave little gifts for them. Mrs Deakin also revealed how much Louis family is hurt by the negativity.

Back in early December Tomlinson shared a picture on Twitter that simply said “Fly high buddy.” The picture shows little Harvey who has sadly passed away. Harvey’s mother took to Facebook last night to praise Louis after she had seen a story on Yahoo! Celebrity about Louis leaving a microphone on a little boys hotel room bed.

In her Facebook post Sarah Hext revealed the depth of Tomlinson’s kindness to her family.

“Louis gave us the chance to stay in the most beautiful hotels in London and experience a 1D concert with Harvey- something he loved (and took his microphone too) they also sent us to Disneyland Paris- Disney was Harvey’s favorite place. We attended the Cinderella ball and Harvey was in his element wearing his Tux that night. Even after Harvey fell asleep Louis has continued to treat us to experiences that we could only dream of and that’s so important for Olivia and Spencer. We love you Louis and I know your Mum is so proud of you.”

Louis’ mom responded to Sarah Hext’s Facebook post and her response would bring a tear to a glass eye. Johannah explains that a friend asked Louis who was in the twitter photograph he simply replied “he’s a special little dude that has stole a lot of people’s hearts!”

Louis also told his friend that he was “loving it that 21 million people will see that great pic of Harvey” after he shared it on Twitter.

If you needed any confirmation that Louis Tomlinson has a heart the size of a planet well there it is.
