‘Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice’ Debuts New Teaser! [Video]

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice has the internet abuzz with the release of a new teaser, but just how new is it? Seems we’ve heard these lines before from Ben Affleck’s Batman.

Batman: “Tell me, do you bleed?”

Superman (Henry Cavill) flies away.

Batman: “You will.”

Come on, Zack Snyder! Give us something we can really sink our teeth into, like a battle sequence, or some delightfully sinister one-liners from Lex Luthor (Jesse Eisenberg). Equally disappointing has been Wonder Woman’s (Gal Gadot) general lack of presence in these teasers. Certainly, the film is primarily about Batman and Superman learning to play nice together, but there are so many other aspects of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice that fans would find equally exciting.

Batman v Superman reveals the human side of a mortal superhero

In Dawn of Justice, Wayne Manor and the Batcave itself come together to symbolize Bruce Wayne, physically manifesting the struggle Bruce and Batman face every day. The exterior is a shambles, having fallen into such a state of disrepair that it seems unlivable, almost ready to be condemned.

Inside, a different story is to be told. As one ventures down, deeper and deeper, the Batcave reveals itself as a crime fighting mecca, equipped with the latest technology that Wayne Enterprises has to offer.

On the human side, Ben Affleck is quick to come to his alter ego’s defense, pointing out that the world needs a mortal advocate, someone of this earth with the understanding of what it is to be human.

“[Batman] represents human beings, mortal men,” Mr. Affleck says. “In a world of Flashes and Aquamen and Supermen, there needs to be that guy. It’s interesting that he became the leader of the Justice League in the books — I’m not sure how that’ll play out here — but his humanity is also an asset.”

Meet the new Lex Luthor..and appreciate him

As a character, Lex Luthor is probably one of the most infamous villains ever created in the DC Comics universe. Even those whose fingers have never touched the pages of a single comic book know the name, having seen him on television, in one form or another, from childhood.

While some of us may still think of Gene Hackman when the Lex Luthor name is brought up, even after a number of other actors have since portrayed the evil mastermind, Jesse Eisenberg is making the character his own in Batman v Superman. In fact, Eisenberg says Dawn of Justice has given him one of the best scenes of his career.

“When you see the movie, you’ll see,” suggests Jesse. “It’s the greatest scene that I’ve ever gotten to take part in — it accounts for the change in hair.”

This probably comes as a pleasant surprise to traditional Superman fans, since most of the Dawn of Justice promo photos and video teasers have shown Luthor with a full head of curly locks. There has apparently been one rare photo of Jesse Eisenberg on fully bald mode, but that may have been missed by some fans. The Dawn of Justice actor likes the different take on Lex’s hair, because, as he suggests, it helps him separate himself from previous incarnations of the DC villain.

“When you’re doing a movie like this and playing a character that’s already been played, the further away it is from those previous incarnations the better,” Eisenberg said. “Because chances are, especially with a guy like Gene Hackman or Kevin Spacey, you’re not going to get favorably compared.”

It will certainly be interesting to see how Batman v Superman handles the issue of Lex Luthor’s extreme hair loss. Almost as interesting as finding out if Superman does, in fact, bleed. Will it be red?

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, directed by Zack Snyder, will hit theaters on March 23.
