Khloe Kardashian speaks on brother Rob's diabetes diagnosis.

Khloe Kardashian Talks Rob Kardashian’s Diabetes Diagnosis, Says Health Scare Is A Wake-Up Call

Khloe Kardashian is no stranger to speaking out for her brother, Rob Kardashian, so it’s not a surprise that Khloe is now opening up about the status of her brother’s health after reports surfaced last week confirming that the former Keeping Up With the Kardashians star had been diagnosed with diabetes.

While Rob Kardashian’s health has been a topic of concern for members of the Kardashian-Jenner family for the past two years, the reality star’s health reportedly took a turn for the worse last week after TMZ confirmed that Rob was taken to a L.A. hospital on Sunday after “feeling terrible all weekend.”

The site explains that according to sources close to the Kardashian family, Rob was diagnosed with diabetic ketoacidosis after doctors discovered that Rob’s blood contained high levels of ketones as a result of diabetes.

The source further explains that while Rob was unaware that he had diabetes prior to his hospital visit, Rob’s doctors are confident that his type 2 diabetes can be controlled and potentially go into remission if the reality star adopts a “healthy lifestyle.”

In regard to her brother’s health scare, Khloe Kardashian recently spoke to Extra about the rumors surrounding Rob’s diagnosis, while revealing that she’s dedicated to helping her brother eat healthier in order to keep his condition under control.

When asked for an update on Rob’s health, Khloe admits, “He’s doing really, really good—leaving all the bad stuff in 2015, 2016, and we’re trying to focus on his health and getting better.”

Khloe Kardashian further admits that Rob’s health scare has pushed him to “take things a little more seriously” and notes that she prays 2016 will “be a great year for him.”

Khloe also dispelled rumors suggesting that Rob is in talks to be the new spokesperson for Subway as a part of the chain’s weight loss program, noting that she wasn’t even aware of the rumors.

While Khloe remains optimistic about her brother’s health in the new year, Kardashian previously opened up about how her family has been dealing with Rob’s declining health in a new promo event for her upcoming show, Kocktails With Khloe.

When asked about Rob’s diabetes diagnosis, Khloe admits that the family hasn’t had an “intervention” for their brother despite tabloid rumors. However, she notes that her brief phone conversation with Rob regarding his weight issues on last season’s Keeping Up With the Kardashians was pivotal in addressing the reality star’s health concerns, E! News reports.

“We didn’t mean to film [it] and it just happened,” Khloe admits of her phone “intervention” with Rob on last season’s KUWTK, “We filmed an intervention that aired … not so much like a sit-down and this blah, blah, blah, it was like over the phone and it was just like that’s when the time happened and we happened to be filming and we just needed to really address a lot of stuff with Rob.”

Khloe goes on to explain that she has already witnessed a “great transformation just mentally right now” in her brother since his diagnosis, noting that she’s always “praying and rooting” for her brother’s success.

“I’m very hopeful. We gotta get Rob back out here doing his thing. We all miss Rob, he’s the best.”

Similarly, Khloe also shot down claims that she has plans to kick her brother out of her home in an effort to inspire him to adopt a healthier lifestyle, noting that “I’m an enabler because I baby him too much but I can’t kick my brother out, that’s never gonna happen.”
