Is Caitlyn Jenner Tour Cancellation A Sign We’ve Had Enough Kardashian?
Caitlyn Jenner has been forced to cancel her tour. According to People, Caitlyn cited other work commitments as her reason for cancelling the five-city speaking tour. Jenner was scheduled to appear in Vancouver, Denver, San Francisco, Seattle, and Toronto on her “Up Close and Personal” tour, but now she claims the dates clash with other work. Some may find it odd that Caitlyn didn’t know about other work commitments when she booked the tour.
The Daily Mail reports that the real reason for the cancellation of Jenner’s tour is that ticket sales were disappointingly low. Apparently, a source at the 2,600-capacity Roy Thomson Hall in Toronto said there were still “a lot” of tickets left for Jenner’s speaking engagement when she cancelled. The reality star will still have a television platform with her documentary reality series, I Am Cait, which has been renewed for second season debuting in 2016.
As any follower of Caitlyn Jenner will be aware, 66-year-old former Olympic champion Bruce Jenner underwent gender reassignment in April of last year, and Caitlyn has become an advocate for LGBTQ rights. Caitlyn later made her first appearance as a woman in a Vanity Fair cover story.
Perhaps ironically, as Bruce, Jenner’s motivational speaking engagements were often a sell-out, and the reality star earned top dollar for appearances.
The Daily Beast claims that the reason for Jenner’s cancellation of the tour may simply be that we have all had our fill of the Jenners and Kardashians. It is suggested that having a Jenner or a Kardashian on the cover of a magazine actually leads to a fall in magazine sales. Viewing figures are also down for the E! show Keeping Up with the Kardashians.
Apparently, Cosmopolitan’s single-copy sales average around 531,086. However, the Kylie Jenner issue saw a drop in sales of around 40,000 while the November issue, proclaiming the Kardashians “America’s First Family,” sold saw a dip in sales of around 20 percent.
Perhaps fears of a collapsing Kardashian and Jenner economy lay behind the supposed recent reunion between Kendall Jenner and One Direction heartthrob Harry Styles. Jenner and Styles were rumored to be dating back in 2013, but many of Harry’s fans believe that links between the two were a joint publicity stunt. Over New Year’s, Styles and his mother were spotted relaxing on a super-yacht with music mogul Irving Azoff’s family.

Kendall and her mother, Kris Jenner, joined the party, and a host of pictures were released to the media that suggested Jenner and Styles were getting close. Perhaps tellingly, the media photographs were circulated by Splash News, an agency that has worked with the Kardashians and Jenners for many years. This led many people to think that Kris Jenner is using Kendall and Harry Styles to generate some publicity.
Of course, Jenner being linked with Styles could also be designed to try to kill rumors about Kendall Jenner’s sexuality. The Mirror reports that revelations in OK! Magazine claim that Kendall Jenner is actually a lesbian and is “captivated” by her BFF Cara Delevingne.
It was suggested by the Inquisitr earlier this week that Harry Styles might be acting as a “beard” for Kendall in a bid to hide Jenner’s true sexuality. Despite those claims, at least one person believes that Styles and Jenner are dating. According to ABC News, Khloe Kardashian told Entertainment Weekly that she believes her little sister is dating Styles.
“I don’t know if they’re like boyfriend-girlfriend. Nowadays I don’t know, people are weird with stuff. So, I don’t know their title. But I mean, they were in St. Barts together hanging out, so to me that’s dating.”
