WWE News: Disturbing Stat About All Those Who Left ‘WrestleMania 31’ As A Champion

It’s no surprise that WWE has had to deal with a great deal of injuries over time, but this past year has been one of the worst on record. John Cena is the latest big name star to go out due to injury, but there are many others who have missed time and it’s created an interesting, yet disturbing, stat for all those who left WrestleMania 31 as champion.

Less than a year since the big event of 2015 took place, many injuries have happened and some superstars have already returned. As Cageside Seats reported, it looks like every single superstar that walked out of WrestleMania 31 as champion is currently injured and could very likely end up missing WrestleMania 32.

Call it bad luck. Call it a curse. Call it whatever you want, but this is just awful for WWE and wrestling fans everywhere.

Upon leaving WrestleMania 31, the champions were as follows:

  • Seth Rollins – WWE World Heavyweight Champion
  • John Cena – United States Champion
  • Daniel Bryan – Intercontinental Champion
  • Nikki Bella – Divas Champion
  • Brass Ring Club – WWE Tag Team Champions

The latest injury is the one to Cena, and WrestleZone is reporting that his torn rotator cuff will require surgery and keep him out through WrestleMania 32. He is hoping to be back before the expected six months of recovery time, but it will be almost impossible for him to wrestle by early April.

Seth Rollins was injured in early November when he tore his ACL, MCL, and meniscus in a house show match against Kane. It did require surgery which is going to keep him out of action for six-to-nine months and he was forced to vacate the WWE World Heavyweight Title.

Leaving last year’s big event, the team of Tyson Kidd and Cesaro were the WWE Tag Team champions and doing extremely well. Tyson Kidd suffered a serious neck injury at the beginning of June, and some are surprised that he didn’t up a quadriplegic, but he was set to be out of the ring for at least a year.

In November, it was revealed that Cesaro had torn his left shoulder rotator cuff about two months beforehand. He was trying to work through it, but ended up needing surgery, which he got shortly after, and was due to be out of action four-to-six months.

Nikki Bella, who had held onto the Divas Championship for an incredibly long time, has a back injury with bulging discs. She has been dealing with the injury for a couple months and has received epidural treatments in hopes of “shrinking” them and avoiding surgery.

Last, but not certainly not least, is Daniel Bryan. He won the Intercontinental Title at WrestleMania 31 in an amazing ladder match, but ended up relinquishing the title a little over a month later. Another neck injury and concussion issues have kept him out of the ring since then, and fans are wondering if he will ever return.

Aside from all the champions from WrestleMania 31 currently being out due to injury, WWE has had to deal with a lot of others over the past year. Just some of the other names who have missed time are:

  • Sting
  • Randy Orton
  • Rusev
  • Big Show
  • Jey Uso
  • Lana
  • Sami Zayn
  • Hideo Itami
  • Erick Rowan

Some others have missed small amounts of time here and there with minor injuries as well. That’s not even mentioning the limited schedules of Chris Jericho, Brock Lesnar, The Undertaker, Kane, and others, and that’s made the roster even weaker at times.

WrestleMania 32 is less than four months away and every single champion coming out of last year’s big event is likely going to miss it. Injuries have decimated the WWE roster and even the NXT roster in the past year, but some big rumors and stories could help that change soon.
