Dakota Johnson Reacts To People’s Choice Awards Wardrobe Malfunction With Hilarious ‘Fifty Shades Of Grey’ Quip [Video]

Dakota Johnson had an awkward wardrobe malfunction at the People’s Choice Awards. But the 26-year-old actress had a great sense of humor about it, the Huffington Post reports.

While Johnson was accepting the award for Favorite Dramatic Movie Actress, she hugged presenters Leslie Mann and Alison Brie. Brie and Mann star alongside Dakota Johnson in the upcoming film, How to Be Single. But as Dakota hugged Leslie, her dress was accidentally unzipped, leaving the Fifty Shades of Grey lead actress in a very embarrassing situation.

“Leslie just broke my dress,” Dakota said, holding the silver grey top of her dress behind her to keep it from completely falling off.

But then she had this hilarious quip for the audience.

“Well — it’s not like nobody here hasn’t already seen my boobs.”

This is a very obvious nod to her nude scenes from Fifty Shades of Grey.

Johnson faced a lot of criticism for taking the role of Anastasia Steele, a young woman who signs up to be the sex slave of billionaire Christian Grey. But Dakota insists that she is proud of the work that she’s done in Fifty Shades.

“I’m proud of Fifty Shades of Grey. I don’t need to distance myself from that,” said Johnson said during an interview with British Vogue. “The more work I do, the more the general public sees the different things I can do. Do I think it opened doors? Yeah. More people know my name.”

Johnson will be back as Anastasia Steel when the Fifty Shades sequel Fifty Shades Darker hits theatres in February 2017. Fifty Shades of Grey earned over $500 million at the box office during 2015, according to Box Office Mojo.

Although her career is on an upward trajectory, Johnson also slammed Hollywood for turning its back on older actresses like her mother, Melanie Griffith, 58, and her grandmother Tippi Hedren, 85.

Dakota Johnson, who is currently promoting Black Mass, told Vogue UK that she is concerned about getting roles in Hollywood because of her age and she isn’t even 30 yet, the Guardian reports.

Dakota added that she’s constantly worried that she will never work again given the dog-eat-dog nature of Hollywood.

“No matter how tough you are, sometimes there’s the feeling of not being wanted. It’s absurd and cut-throat. Whenever I have downtime, I’m unsure that I will ever work again. I don’t know what it is, but it’s a definite thing that happens to me.”

Dakota Johnson’s mother, Melanie Griffith, was one of the most famous actresses in Hollywood, making her name in the Oscar-nominated Working Girl in 1988. After that, Griffith starred in Bonfire of the Vanities, Lolita, and Woody Allen’s Celebrity in the 1990s. However, she practically disappeared from films in the 2000s. But she’s still on TV, though. Melanie Griffith is currently starring in Hawaii Five-O.

Dakota’s grandmother, Tippi Hedren, was one of Alfred Hitchcock’s muses. Her big break came when she starred in one of his classics, The Birds, in 1963. She also starred in his subsequent film, Marnie, that revolved around a troubled woman in 1964. The Tippi Hedren and Alfred Hitchcock relationship soured after a while, though, and Hedren later accused Hitchcock of being a sexual predator. As the Guardian notes, Hedren’s film roles became very scarce after she cut ties with Hitchcock. She starred in 1981’s cult thriller Roar, but her acting roles have since been confined to supporting characters and TV parts.

Melanie Griffith and Tippi Hedren aren’t the only ones who’ve been negatively impacted by Hollywood’s apparent sexism and ageism.

The Guardian also reports that actress Maggie Gyllenhaal disclosed last year that at 37, she was deemed too old to play opposite a 55-year-old man as his love interest. Liv Tyler, daughter of Aerosmith frontman Steve Tyler, says she’s also facing the same struggle and feels like a “second class citizen” in Hollywood because she’s 38-years-old.

Fifty Shades of Grey, Dakota Johnson’s breakout film, has also been slammed for sexism. As Entertainment Online noted at the time, Dakota Johnson goes full frontal nude in the film, while her co-star Jamie Dornan (Christian Grey) is only partially nude. There are claims that Dornan will be fully nude in the sequel Fifty Shades Darker, but for a price.

According to Hollywood Life, Dornan has been offered $1.5 million to show his penis in the Fifty Shades sequel, and that’s just the opening offer.

“That’s just a starting figure,” an alleged insider revealed. “Jamie would be crazy not to consider it.”
