Will Elizabeth Olsen Play Michelle Tanner On ‘Full House’ Reboot?

Both Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, who shared the role of Michelle Tanner on the show Full House have made it clear that they have no interest in reprising their role on the show’s reboot, Fuller House, so now the show’s producers are going after the twin’s younger sister Elizabeth Olsen. John Stamos had the idea that the junior Olsen would be a good replacement, and so the hunt was on.

According to The Inquisitr, the primary reason Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen were taking a pass on Fuller House was their strained relationship with John Stamos who plays Uncle Jesse. It seems the rumor that Stamos tried to get the Olsens fired when they were babies was true, but he has since apologized. He has tried reaching out on several occasions, but with no success.

Vanity Fair is reporting that Elizabeth Olsen was approached for the Full House reboot Fuller House. John Stamos is saying that it was his idea when he spoke to Bravo’s Andy Cohen on the radio.

“I don’t think this has been talked about,” he said. “I didn’t do it, I think Jeff Franklin did. I said, ‘Call the sister [Elizabeth Olsen]. Ask her’… We talked to her agent and her agent was like, ‘Come on, she’s not going to do that,’ but we did call her agent.”

E!online is saying that John Stamos confirmed that Elizabeth Olsen was approached by Fuller House producers to play the role of Michelle Tanner.

“We talked to her agent and her agent was like, ‘Come on she’s not going to do that,’ but we did call her agent,” Stamos told Cohen on his SiriusXM talk show RadioAndy.

Stamos said that it is all a misunderstanding what when down between him and the Olsens prior to Fuller House.

“I think there was some confusion. They said first I didn’t ask them. And I didn’t personally, but I was told they were asked,” Stamos said on Stern’s SiriusXM show. “So I had a knee-jerk reaction and said, ‘B******t, I did ask them.’ And they got upset, so I did call and talked to Mary-Kate and explained what the show is going to be and told them I’d love for them to be on there and they decided not to, which I respect.”

Stamos says that the reason the Olsens took a pass was because they no longer think of themselves as actors.

Entertainment Weekly revealed that Stamos said the the Olsens were “afraid” to return to acting, and that is why they are skipping Fuller House.

“They seemed very into [Fuller House]; they just were afraid of acting,” Stamos said. “They hadn’t acted; they don’t consider themselves actresses.”

Though the Olsens have not done any acting in a while, it is likely not at least the only reason they passed. Fuller House will debut on Netflix next month. It is assumed that Elizabeth Olsen also took a pass, and decided that reprising her sisters’ role on a sitcom would do nothing for her career, which she forged on her own.
