Powerball Winning Numbers: Most Popular Winning Powerball Numbers Are 8, 54, 14, 39, And 13

The Powerball jackpot is of great interest to many ticket buyers, with the official Powerball website reporting the most recent winning numbers scheduled to pay an estimated $500 million once they are announced. That’s a $306 million estimated cash value.

As of this writing, the Powerball Winning Numbers have not yet been updated with the Wednesday, January 6, winning Powerball numbers. However, once those winning Powerball numbers emerge, if there’s a winner — or winners — they will claim the largest lottery prize in nearly a year.

Although the Powerball lottery page explains nine ways to check if any of your Powerball numbers are winners, there are additional ways to try and become a Powerball winner who starts staring at winning Powerball numbers on a Powerball ticket in the morning.

According to ABC News, Powerball winners are ones who are likely to buy Quick Picks. This information about winning Powerball numbers was gleaned from the Frequently Asked Questions page of the Powerball website.

“About 70% to 80% of purchases are computer picks. Perhaps just one of those weird coincidences?”

The same Powerball page explains that Powerball winners don’t necessarily come from one state more so than another, but those words are differing from an ABC News report about Pennsylvania having an inordinate number of Powerball winners lately.

“Powerball is a random game that knows nothing about who buys a ticket or where a ticket is purchased. If one draws a box around some group of players (eg., state border, hair color, shoe size), then that group of players will win in proportion to their play. If the defined group buys 10% of the tickets, then they will win 10% of the prizes – on average and over a reasonable period of time. But that does NOT mean that you have a better chance of winning in a bigger box – you then just have more folks to play against. The Law of Large numbers explains how random expectations become truer as the number of occurrences increases. So, if players in a particular group buy 8.6754% of the tickets, then we will find, if the number of occurrences (prizes awarded) are large enough, that those players win 8.6754% of the prizes.”

Powerball leaves folks wondering if they should stay away from hoping to win Powerball numbers based on dates that mean something, like birthdates and wedding anniversaries, in favor of the Quick Pick option. If those Quick Pick or manually chosen winning Powerball numbers actually turn out to be big Powerball jackpot winners, ABC News recommends what to do if you win the Powerball jackpot.

Those tips include trying to remain anonymous, in order to avoid the dangers that can come with winning a big Powerball jackpot. Even Powerball winners who don’t live in the handful of states that allow them to remain anonymous after they win can still stay hidden by setting up an LLC and getting paid through the company name.

Sticking with the same numbers and not changing them each time you play can be a great strategy as well, along with buying as many Powerball tickets as one can reasonably afford to try and increase the chances of winning. ABC News even analyzed the most popular previous winning Powerball numbers, and came up with five numbers that occur the most often.

“If you opt to pick your own numbers, you might want to include 8, 54, 14, 39 and 13. These numbers are the most frequently drawn numbers, according to an ABC News analysis of past winning Powerball tickets.”

They also noted that Pennsylvanians have represented 16 jackpot winners over the past 13 years. With the estimated Powerball jackpot skyrocketing from $400 million to $500 million, the Powerball jackpot is of great interest. If no one wins, Powerball monies could surge to $675 million.
