There’s an explosive new claim and twist to the whole Tyga and Molly O’Malia melee. As reported by the Inquisitr, Molly held a press conference claiming that Tyga reached out to her via Instagram direct messages. As the Instagram direct message scandal broke, Molly’s photos got 6,200 views per hour, with folks tuning into O’Malia’s Twitter and Instagram photos, and plenty of them mentioned that Molly looked older than her 14 years.

Those Instagram DMs between Tyga and Molly eventually turned into text messages, reported OK! Magazine, which shared photos of the direct messages from Instagram between Tyga and O’Malia right on the magazine’s cover photo. However, new claims of the text message contents between Molly and Tyga shed new light on why Tyga may have believed O’Malia was 17 years of age, and not 14-years-old.

According to TMZ, Molly’s text messages with Tyga were obtained by the publication and are likely the same text messages that OK! Magazine used to craft their article. While Tyga admitted to having conversations with O’Malia, the rapper said their exchanges were only in order to check out Molly’s musical abilities since O’Malia has a growing following online.
In her press conference, Molly mentioned that she found it odd that Tyga didn’t mention O’Malia’s music throughout their initial conversations. When Tyga allegedly asked Molly to FaceTime for the third time, Molly refused and halted all communications. OK! Magazine claims that Tyga told O’Malia how pretty she was, and the publication lists Instagram direct messages showing Tyga asking O’Malia if she’d be in Los Angeles anytime soon.
But the explosive part of the text messages between Tyga and Molly that TMZ says they witnessed includes the fact the publication claims O’Malia told Tyga she was 17 years of age, not a 14-year-old. It’s duly noted that Tyga and Kylie Jenner were rumored to have begun dating when Kylie was 17 and Tyga was 25, as reported by the Washington Post.
“As for her age — according to text messages obtained by TMZ… Molly mentions she is 17.”
If Molly indeed told Tyga via text message that she was 17 instead on 14, one wonders why O’Malia would increase her age by three years. Perhaps Molly thought Tyga wouldn’t consider O’Malia for the music industry. Either way, O’Malia didn’t mention anything about telling Tyga she was 17 years of age if the report from TMZ is correct.
More of Molly’s text messages with Tyga can be seen on TMZ’s photo of the cover of OK! Magazine. O’Malia seems blown away that Tyga is direct messaging her via Instagram. At the end, Tyga asks for O’Malia’s phone number, likely for more text messaging. Those are the text messages wherein TMZ claims Molly said she was 17 years of age. While 17 is still not the age of consent for unmarried Californians to hook up with an adult, 17 is a lot closer to 18 years of age than 14 years of age.

Gloria Allred acted as lawyer for Molly O’Malia as she cried during the press conference. Molly’s mom, Anne Lowry O’Malia, joined the presser. In response, Tyga’s manager, Anthony Martini, claimed Tyga’s only interest in Molly was musically.
O’Malia could’ve joined Tyga’s Last Kings Records record label, Martini said. Molly’s text message conversations with Tyga only involved music, said Anthony, and the FaceTime requests were allegedly to hear Molly sing as Tyga was joined in the studio with his producers. Stay tuned to Tyga and Molly’s text message scandal to see if more actual text messages between Tyga and O’Malia are released to the public to corroborate or refute Molly and Tyga’s text message claims.
