Malia and Sasha Obama Start Showing Up In Campaign Ads

Over the years, President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama have made it their mission to keep their daughters, Malia and Sasha, out of reach from the media.

While that hasn’t exactly changed, Obama appears to be more open to the two making public appearances. In fact, Malia (13) and Sasha (11) have been making public appearances much more frequently lately, and both daughters have even been appearing in campaign ads.

As the Associated Press reports, the reason for this spike in visibility is that Obama’s campaign is using to use his daughters to help “personalize” his image as well has thinking on a range of public policy issues.

Tom Jensen, the director of left-leaning Public Policy Polling, says that, in essence, Malia and Sasha are appearing more often to help boost Obama’s likability.

“Children have a kind of humanizing impact, and that’s really what Obama needs,” Jensen said, as quoted by the Associated Press. “Voters feel like things haven’t changed as much as they wanted. The economy still is not where they wanted it to be. He needs people to vote more on whether they like him or not, regardless of his record of accomplishment.”

Do you think that the decision from the Obama campaign to use Malia and Sasha in ads is a good move?
