Fox News, Rush Limbaugh, And Other Conservatives Lose It Over President Obama’s Plan For Tighter Gun Restrictions

Anybody who watched Fox News on Monday might have possibly thought Obama was banning people from ever owning guns. However, that’s not really the case. BBC has the news.

“US President Barack Obama is to widen background checks on buyers of firearms, in a series of measures to address gun violence. All sellers who operate online or at gun shows will be forced to conduct background checks on potential buyers.”

President Obama will make an official announcement on Tuesday. However, his actions have clearly not been sitting well with conservatives. In an editorial on Fox News, Todd Starnes makes the claim that Obama wants to disarm America.

“If the White House really wants to crack down on gun violence — maybe they should enforce the laws that are already on the books. But that’s not the point. This president ultimately wants to disarm the nation. The primary reason our Founding Fathers wrote the Second Amendment was to protect all the other amendments.”

Starnes adds that not only do a majority of Americans oppose a ban an assault weapons, but that guns keep our families safe. In a video posted on Foxnews.com, Judge Jeanine says stop blaming guns and start shooting terrorists.

“As we venture into 2016, the most dangerous threat to Americans is President Obama’s intent to use his presidential action to once again usurp presidential powers and circumvent the Constitution of the United States,” Jeanine says.

Judge Jeanine adds that President Obama’s meeting with Attorney General Loretta Lynch will chip away at American’s Second Amendment gun rights. Rush Limbaugh joined Jeanine’s sentiments on his radio show Monday morning.

“So Obama is going to announce executive actions and orders to impact negatively the free flow of guns and ammunition in our culture, basically. This has been long a quest of the American left, and he doesn’t care about Congress. He doesn’t care about doing it constitutionally. That doesn’t matter.”

Limbaugh adds that Obama can pretty much do anything he wants in the last year of his presidency, especially because he doesn’t have to worry at all about being re-elected. It seems that many commentators for Fox News and many citizens across the country have a huge problem with Obama trying to pass laws without the help of Congress and making himself appear like a dictator.

The Washington Post talks more specifically about Obama’s executive actions.

“The package, which Obama plans to announce Tuesday, includes 10 separate provisions, White House officials said. One key provision would require more gun sellers — especially those who do business on the Internet and at gun shows — to be licensed and would force them to conduct background checks on potential buyers,” claims the article.

The Washington Post adds that Obama would devote $500 million more in federal funds to treating mental illness, a factor that is often intertwined with gun-related mass killings. He would also require that firearms lost in transit between a manufacturer and a seller be reported to federal authorities. This has caused a backlash on Twitter.

Just like his executive action on immigration, Obama’s latest will likely go to the courts and maybe even all the way to the Supreme Court. Do you support Obama’s executive action on guns? Let us know in the comments section.
