Leonardo DiCaprio Splits From Model Girlfriend Kelly Rohrbach As Award Season For ‘The Revenant’ Heats Up

Leonardo DiCaprio is a single man once more, E! Online reports. The 41-year=old star of The Revenant has broken up with his supermodel girlfriend, Kelly Rohrbach. The reason? Busy schedules for both the actor and the model, it seems.

“This is a really busy time for both of them,” an alleged insider source said. “They are both just so busy that it was hard to make a relationship work.”

This is set to be a very busy awards season for DiCaprio. He’s currently promoting The Revenant, a film where he plays lead character, Hugh Glass. The film is based on a true story and revolves around fur trapper Glass’s fight for survival when he is stranded in the wilderness during the winter of 1823. He most famously survived a grizzly bear mauling.

The film is directed by Alejandro G. Iñárritu and also stars Tom Hardy, Domhall Gleeson and Will Poulter.

As The Daily Mail reports, Leonardo DiCaprio really dedicated himself to conveying the realism of the character’s experience. The Inception star learned how to shoot a musket, build a fire, speak two Native American languages. DiCaprio, a longtime vegetarian, even consumed a raw chunk of bison’s liver. As you can imagine, the experience was not pleasant.

“The bad part is the membrane around it,” Leo said in an interview with Variety last month. “It’s like a balloon. When you bite into it, it bursts in your mouth.”

Leonardo has already landed Golden Globe and SAG Award nominations for his role as Hugh Glass in The Revenant.

DiCaprio’s former girlfriend Kelly Rohrbach is also very busy with her career as a model. She’s also working on film roles. Us Weekly reports that the blonde stunner will be making her onscreen debut in the film adaptation of Baywatch. Rohrbach will play CJ Parker and will don the iconic red swimsuit Baywatch fans know and love.

“For our #BAYWATCH and the iconic role of ‘CJ Parker’ I had to make sure @kellyrohrbach was gorgeous running in SLO-MO…,” Dwayne Johnson said via Instagram while posting a video of the beauty wearing the signature swimsuit.

As a reported insider told People Magazine, “They are both so busy and he’s got a big movie coming out and she’s one of the biggest supermodels in the world. There is no other person in the picture.”

DiCaprio and Rohrbach spent New Year’s Eve in very different locations. He was in St Barts at the popular nightclub, Nikki Beach, with his celebrity entourage, which included his buddy Lukas Haas, according to People.

“Leo partied with blondes and brunettes and male buddies including Leo’s longtime friend Lukas Haas,” an alleged source told People. Lukas Haas appeared alongside Leo in both The Revenant and Inception.

Rohrbach, on the other hand spent New Year’s Eve with her family.

According to US Weekly, DiCaprio and Rohrbach began dating over the summer. The two were first spotted together in June at a CFDA Awards afterparty in New York in June. Since that time, they were seen out and about together at a couple of events including the US Open in September. As Us Weekly reports, they were last seen out together at Thanksgiving. They seemed to genuinely enjoy each other’s company as they were regularly seen showing each other affection — kissing and holding hands– in public.

As this article in the New York Daily News notes, anyone who follows DiCaprio’s dating exploits probably won’t be surprised at the news of his break up with the Sports Illustrated model. He’s previously dated and broken up with a long list of beautiful women including Victoria’s Secret models Gisele Bundchen and Erin Heatherton, actress Blake Lively and former Sports Illustrated swimsuit cover model Bar Refaeli.

Although physical beauty seems to be high on the list of things Leonardo diCaprio looks for in a women, it looks like he likes them smart as well.

As The Belfast Telegraph reports, Leo has admitted that he could never date a woman who does not believe in climate change.

“I could never be with someone who doesn’t believe in climate change,” he said Germany’s TV Movie magazine.

DiCaprio, who is known for being passionate about environmental issues has even advocated for climate change based environmental reforms at the United Nations.

“I believe humankind has looked at climate change in that same way: as if it were a fiction, happening to someone else’s planet, as if pretending that climate change wasn’t real would somehow make it go away,” he argued during an appearance at the UN Climate Change Summit in 2014.

The Revenant hits US theaters Friday and UK theaters January 15.
