Is Khloe Kardashian Paying Lamar Odom’s Medical Bills? Plus, He’s Learning To Walk, Feed Himself

Khloe Kardashian has been supportive of Lamar Odom since his October 2015 drug overdose, but is she also paying his medical bills?

As soon as Odom was hospitalized, Khloe Kardashian flew to be at his side and, due to the fact that they are still married, was forced to begin making key medical decisions on his behalf. For the first few days, Khloe Kardashian’s husband remained in a coma, but after waking up, he was taken from Las Vegas to Los Angeles, where he is currently receiving medical care at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in West Hollywood.

As Odom’s care continues, his medical bills increase, leading many to wonder who is paying them. While Odom likely has insurance, which will cover the majority of his hospital stay and related bills, Starcasm claimed on January 3 that Khloe Kardashian may be running short when it comes to paying the rest. The site also noted that their complicated relationship has led to plenty of speculation regarding both their impending divorce and Khloe Kardashian’s financial involvement in his current crisis.

“The Lamar Odom medical bills question has become larger and larger over the past few weeks, as reports of Odom’s fluctuating condition continue to emerge,” Starcasm reported.

According to a recent report, Khloe Kardashian’s husband’s bills could be “in the millions” when all is said and done.

“Just your basic hospital stay usually runs about $10,000 a night,” healthcare costs expert Shana Alex Charles explained to Entertainment Tonight Online. “Cedars-Sinai is not basic care, and [Odom’s] kind of incident is not basic, so you can just assume that it’s going to be much higher than that, maybe even as high as $30,000 to $50,000 per night, which adds up very quickly.”

Charles went on to reveal that as Odom’s care continues, likely to some sort of long-term care facility, his bills could be in the “tens of thousands per month.” And because Khloe Kardashian’s husband will likely need care for possibly a year and a half to two years, the total bill could run “in the millions,” which she may be held responsible for — at least partially.

“Since [Khloe and Lamar are] still married and these bills relating to his treatment are [considered] debt, they are going to be presumed as a family obligation,” said family law specialist Ryan Sterns.

However, as Sterns revealed, there are a few exceptions to the rule. Although Khloe Kardashian and Odom were technically married at the time he suffered his drug overdose, an attorney working for her could argue that his bills are the result of something that had nothing to do with their marriage. That said, creditors will reportedly look to Khloe Kardashian to pick up the bill.

“Since they’re married, they’re going to look at it as what’s called a joint and several obligation of both [Khloe Kardashian] and Lamar,” Sterns explained.

In addition to news of her husband’s mounting medical bills, Khloe Kardashian has recently confirmed she is still dating James Harden despite reports to the contrary. However, even though she’s with Harden, her support for Odom has continued.

In the latest report regarding Khloe Kardashian’s husband’s health, via the Standard on January 4, it was noted that Odom is learning to walk again, as well as to feed himself, but has been struggling to form sentences.
