Blake Shelton Reveals New Album Will Talk About Miranda Lambert Divorce

Blake Shelton does write music, but he isn’t someone like Taylor Swift, who will only release their own songs. Over the years, Blake has recorded songs by other songwriters, but his newest album is going to be one that will let fans see right into Blake’s soul. The Boot revealed that Blake Shelton is now sharing that his next album will have a lot to do with his divorce, and may actually shed some light on a lot of things that happened as this marriage fell apart.

Shelton spoke to Country Countdown USA to share a bit about his upcoming album and what the fans can expect from it.

“I’ve written more than I’ve written in 15 years, for obvious reasons — all the awful things that have happened in my personal life — but the way the year ended is also the greatest of my life. If I got hit by a truck, the label would have enough for a new album.”

It is not surprising that Blake Shelton was able to come up with a lot of thoughts for an album. In the last year, Blake’s marriage to Miranda Lambert fell apart and he started dating Gwen Stefani, who he met on The Voice. Blake went on to explain that a lot has changed, but it seems like it has been for the best for him.

“Sometimes you don’t know who’s in your life that can save you,” Shelton continues. “I found some people in my life that have changed my life forever.”

“Some has been bad, and some that’s been pretty good. I’m doing what I’m supposed to do, and that’s put all I’ve gone through and put it into music, and I never felt more connected to a record before. When people hear this record, they may not know what happened to me, but they’re gonna know how I felt about it. And that’s exciting for me, to just lay it out there for people.”

This new Blake Shelton album won’t actually come out until May, but Blake is hoping to have a song released for fans as soon as January. Blake said he can’t stop thinking about it and he is going nuts wanting to get it out there for his fans.

This won’t be the first personal song that Blake Shelton has written though. Blake wrote the song “Over You” with his ex-wife Miranda Lambert while the two were still married. She was actually the one who recorded this song, but Blake Shelton does sing it live from time to time for his fans.

The word is also already out that Blake Shelton wrote a song with his new girlfriend, Gwen Stefani. E! Online shared that Blake Shelton’s rep has confirmed that this is true. This song is a mid-tempo country song, but there is no word yet if it will end up on the new album. Fans would love to hear it though, so hopefully Blake will decide to put it out and soon. An insider did share that this song talks about how someone should leave a relationship if it is not what they really want. Considering Blake and Gwen both just got a divorce, this song was probably easy for them to write.
