Rihanna And Young Thug Teaming Up For ‘Anti’? Sources Say Album Delay Is ‘Worth The Wait’

Rihanna has yet to announce an official release date for her impending eighth studio album, Anti, but it appears that rumors regarding potential collaborations for Rihanna’s highly anticipated album continue to surface.

Just weeks after Rihanna was spotted working in the studio alongside Atlanta-based rapper Young Thug, sources close to Rihanna have reportedly confirmed speculation that Young Thug will appear as a guest feature on Rihanna’s new album.

According to Urban Islandz, sources close to Rihanna continue to fuel speculation that suggests Young Thug will make a guest appearance on Anti despite the lack of an official track list or release date for the project.

“Young Thug and RiRi recorded a song recently that has been chosen to be on the album,” sources close to Rihanna explained to the site.

The source went on to note that while Rihanna’s fans continue to grow impatient regarding the lack of news surrounding Rihanna’s Anti album, the finished product will be “worth the wait.”

“The song is dope and fans will have a complete album sooner than later although there is still no official release date. It will [be] worth the wait.”

The news comes just weeks after Young Thug, who previously recorded a track named after the Barbadian superstar alongside Yo Gotti in August, was photographed hanging outside of the recording studio with Rihanna in late November.

One of Young Thug’s team members took to Instagram to share a behind-the-scenes snap of the duo taking a break from recording, captioning the shot with, “Thug and Rihanna in the studio…….The engineer had walked out of the studio and Alex [Young Thug’s engineer] wasn’t there but she wanted to hear some beats and some thug songs…,” Hot New Hip Hop reports.

While the photo of the duo initially fueled rumors of a new single release from Rihanna and Young Thug, especially since rumors at the time the photo’s release suggested that Rihanna would drop Anti on Black Friday, it now appears that a feature from Young Thug on Rihanna’s Anti album is more likely to occur.

The news comes just weeks after DJ Akademiks seemingly confirmed speculation suggesting that Drake would also appear as a guest feature on Rihanna’s eighth studio album.

DJ Akademiks took to Twitter on December 20 to tease what appeared to be a preview of a new track from Drake’s impending Views From the 6 album; however, it was later determined by Akademiks that the song in question may actually point towards a Drake and Rihanna collaboration.

Just hours after the video was posted, DJ Akademiks took to Twitter to explain to fans that Rihanna’s record label had reached out and asked him to remove the video of Drake’s audio recording.

“Remember that Snippet I tweeted out with Drake singing?? Turns out roc nation on behalf of Rihanna sent over notice to remove..Us ur bran,” Akademiks wrote on Twitter, seemingly implying that the track in question is either a preview of a new Drake and Rihanna collab or a reference track for Rihanna’s Anti record.

“Basically, that song either not on Views or a collab wit Rihanna but could even be a reference for Rihanna..,” DJ Akademiks further explained, noting, “Roc Nation who reps Rihanna owns the right to the Drake snippet.”

While there is still no official confirmation from either Rihanna or Roc Nation regarding the rumored collaborations for Anti, it seems Rihanna is dedicated to taking her time to produce what fans are hoping to be the songstress’ biggest album release to date.

Rihanna will kick off the U.S. portion of her “Anti World Tour” in February alongside rapper Travis Scott before heading to the U.K. with special guest The Weeknd.
