The Xbox One Free And Not-So-Free Games Coming In 2016

Chances are, Xbox One gamers have spent the holidays cracking down on every unfinished Xbox One game (and Xbox 360 games, too, thanks to backward compatibility). This means they’ll be welcoming 2016 longing for new games and new adventures on the Xbox One.

With countless games already lined up for a 2016 release, what are the chances that you’ll be able to grab ahold of all of them? To start you off with new additions to your Xbox One library, here are some free and not-so-free titles to look forward to (or maybe even pre-order) for your Xbox One.

Do you remember, on the Xbox 360, the glory that Crackdown once was? Forget Crackdown 2 and join us as we pin our hopes on Crackdown 3, the city that’s fully destructible. Who won’t be able to spend hours trying to bring down the whole screen? Microsoft will be bringing Crackdown3 to Xbox One this year.

If you’re itching to spend those bucks and burn some evil creatures, then Dark Souls 3 might just be up your alley. Already available for pre-order on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC, Dark Souls 3 is the exciting fourth entry in the Souls franchise and will be the role-playing game that will bring up those chills and nightmares (if you’re a scaredy cat like us). Dark Souls 3 will be hitting Xbox One, PS4, and PC on April 16. If you’re a fan, might as well grab that Collector’s Edition.

We’re also already excited for Arkane Studio’s comeback, Dishonored 2. Now with a female lead character named Emily Kaldwin, and with new environments to explore outside Dunwall, this could be the stealth game of 2016 for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 that fans may love just as much they did Dishonored. If you haven’t played Dishonored yet, shame on you! Go ahead and grab the Dishonored: Definitive Edition for Xbox One to make sure you’re ready for the Dishonored 2 release.

Square Enix has packed 2016 with a lot of punch, too, with three huge titles lined up. Square Enix’ home console is, no doubt, the PlayStation 4, but good news is two of these much-anticipated titles are available on the Xbox One. Both for role-players on the Xbox One, Final Fantasy XV and Deus Ex: Mankind Divided are sure to be blockbusters on the Xbox One and PS4 in 2016. Both titles are already long overdue for release and fans are sincerely hoping that Square Enix pull both titles through before the year ends.

We’ve already seen a lot of Final Fantasy XV from its demo and teased material as it has been in development for an unbelievable number of years now. All Final Fantasy fans, old and new, are sure to grab that title for their Xbox One or PS4. No question about that.

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided is Square Enix and Eidos Montréal’s cyberpunk RPG followup to Deus Ex: Human Revolution, which released for the older Xbox 360 in 2011. Human Revolution served as a reboot of the original Deus Ex franchise.

Starting January 1, Xbox Live members will be able to have free access to Killer Instinct: Season 1 Ultra Edition on the Xbox One and DiRT Showdown on the Xbox One via the Xbox Backward Compatibility. Killer Instinct Ultra Edition is even better since Xbox Live Games With Gold will give you access to all eight Season One characters, 16 additional character accessory packs, eight additional costumes, and a playable version of Killer Instinct Classic from 1994.
