Joey Feek Cancer Update: Rory Shares Photos Of Daughter Indy Celebrating New Year’s
Joey and Rory Feek ringed in the New Year with none other than their 22-month-old daughter Indiana (Indy).
New Year’s is a time to reflect on the trials and tribulations of the past year, and plan for what is to come in the new year. For Joey Feek, New Year’s was another milestone she tackled while fighting an intense battle with cervical cancer. The fact that she was there to celebrate with her family was a celebration of its own.
As the Inquisitr previously reported, Joey Feek was diagnosed with stage four cervical cancer in 2014, three months after welcoming her baby girl Indy into the world. Following her diagnosis, Joey underwent a radical hysterectomy and several rounds of chemotherapy and radiation. Although it appeared as though she was beating the cancer, a mid-October scan revealed that her cancer had not only returned, but had also spread to other parts of her body, including her colon. There was little to nothing the doctors could do. Yes, Joey could continue to undergo chemotherapy and radiation, but it would only buy her time. It would not give her what she really wanted — a cure.

Since Joey’s diagnosis, her husband and duet partner Rory Feek has been documenting her battle on his blog This Life I Live, sharing both new and old memories, and frequent updates on Joey’s condition. Rory has also been keeping Joey and Rory fans updated on their Facebook page, posting numerous photos of the family spending time together, even though Joey is sick.
On Friday, January 1 (New Years Day), Rory shared a collage of photos of their daughter Indy. The collage features nine different poses of Indy sitting in her highchair as she celebrates New Year’s with her parents. Rory captioned the photos by simply saying, “Happy New Year!”
Not only did the Feeks have a happy new year’s celebration, they also had a very special Christmas. In a blog post titled “a gruffalo christmas,” Rory shared details about their family traditions and how they chose to spend their Christmas together.
“Christmas had come and Joey was not only here with us, but she was doing well and we all had an amazing day together,” Rory wrote. “There was a beautiful Christmas tree filled with wonder…Christmas cookies that we made together… New pajamas that we opened and put on the night before (it’s our yearly tradition)…Lots of presents to open on Christmas morning…And a big Christmas dinner in the evening and fun with all of Joey’s family…It truly was an incredible Christmas!”

On December 19, Rory shared a video of a New Year’s Eve 2014 on Facebook, which showed Joey and Rory dancing at their 1940s-themed party. Rory captioned the video by saying, “We had a 1940’s themed New Years Eve last year in our barn. I dusted off my old uniform and my bride and I cut a rug to some big band music. Hoping for a long sweet slow dance this year.”
Rory hasn’t yet shared a video of New Year’s Eve 2015, but we can hope he and Joey were able to share that slow dance together.
