Joey Feek’s Wish Comes True, Spends Christmas With Daughter: Now She’s Aiming To Make It To The Grammys

Joey Feek had just one wish this Christmas: to spend it with her one-year-old daughter, Indiana. Cosmopolitan reported that Feek was diagnosed with cervical cancer and told last October that she had just six months to live.

In November, Joey Feek became bed-ridden, but has since been able to get up and move around. Her entire family gathered together for a Christmas celebration and Feek’s husband, Rory, captured it all on film.

Prior to the big Christmas get together, photos were captured of Joey Feek having some special time with her daughter. Today reported that Rory captured tender moments in which Joey Feek gave her daughter bedtime kisses. The precious photos were posted to Facebook for the world to see as Rory chronicles his wife’s journey with cancer.

These photos were taken just one week after Joey Feek got out of bed to play with her daughter for the first time in weeks. This Instagram photo says it all.

When Joey Feek found out her illness was terminal, she made a goal of living through Christmas. According to USA Today she now has another goal: to live through February 15, so she can see the Grammy Awards.

Joey and her husband Rory, known as the country singing duo Joey & Rory, have received a Grammy nomination for their song “If I Needed You” and she wants to see the outcome. See the video here.

Daily Mail reports Rory isn’t quite sure how the song got nominated.

“The song received no radio airplay… no press… no critical acclaim… and the only music video we made for it was to celebrate the day our little Indiana was born. God is so good. Thank you, thank you, thank you.”

Joey Feek doesn’t just want to watch the Grammy Awards on TV; she wants to be in the audience with her husband. In an interview with the Tennessean, Rory spoke of his wife’s will to live.

“Joey set a personal goal [Monday] morning of being here for all three. She’s so faith-filled and determined, don’t be surprised if you see us sitting in the audience at the award show, holding hands and smiling when they open the ballot and read the winner’s name.”

Friends also sent an early gift to the Feeks and Santa delivered it. Apparently, Santa was nervous about the visit because he wasn’t sure if Joey Feek would be up for it, but Rory said when Santa saw Joey sitting on the couch and smiling, he relaxed.

“I think once he saw my bride sitting on the couch and smiling when he came in, and enjoying the evening… he settled in and hopefully had as good a time as we did. What a blessing this evening was. Indy’s first time to meet Santa Claus… and Joey and I’s first chance to get to know him a little better.”

Joey Feek’s husband, Rory, is keeping track of her final days in a blog, This Life I Live. This is a tough journey for anyone, but especially for a mother with such a young child. She and Rory are seemingly grateful for every day they have together. As Rory said, each day is enough.

“Joey and I woke (Monday) morning just thankful for the chance to have another day to be together. That was enough. When you honestly don’t know what tomorrow will bring, you don’t think any farther than today.”

Go with strength, Joey Feek, and may you make it through February to see the upcoming milestones in your life, which don’t only include the Grammy Awards, but also the release of the duo’s new album and Indiana’s second birthday.
