Report claims Steve Jobs has had a liver transplant

Apple CEO Steve Jobs is claimed to have had a liver transplant in Tennessee about two months ago, according to the Wall Street Journal. The report claims that Jobs is recovering well and expected to return to work this month.

Reports that Jobs had been considering a liver transplant following treatment for islet cell neuroendocrine tumor in 2004 surfaced in January this year. The move to Tennessee for the transplant is believed to be due to shorter waiting lists in the state.

Apple naturally has made no comment on the report.

Jobs’ health has been the subject of speculation since he first appeared gaunt at Macworld in early 2008. An appearance later that year at the WWDC event lead to further speculation, although Jobs denied health issues at the time.
