Kevin Smith Saw The Next ‘Suicide Squad’ Trailer And Says David Ayer Has ‘An Eye’ And It’s More Humorous

Comic book fan Kevin Smith saw the next Suicide Squad movie trailer and is indeed hyped up about it. He was on his Fatman and the Batman YouTube/podcast talking about the comic book movie line-up, according to Cinema Blend. He touted the marketing people as having done great work on this.

“The song choice is perfect, they are building a moody campaign. They are building something that, like, people don’t read comics are interested in.”

This says a lot considering that Marvel has done pretty well by garnering interest in some of the more unknown comic book characters to the non-comic fan. For instance, there was a considerable risk for Guardians of the Galaxy where a couple of the characters were a tree and a talking raccoon. Of course, they worked that gag into the dialogue as a method to appeal to those who don’t read comics. The Suicide Squad movie may have their own methods.

So with the Suicide Squad movie, one may wonder how they are going about drawing the audience in with their marketing campaign. So Warner Bros. looks to have their own style in creating relatable content.

It wasn’t long ago that the trailer was announced to be revealed during the DC Films Presents: Dawn of the Justice League show on the CW. Now Kevin Smith revealed on his Fatman and the Batman podcast that he’s already seen it. He also touted David Ayer as being marvelous at what he does, and expressed that the big wigs should “give him whatever he wants” for future DC movies.

“I like this guy, (David Ayer) he’s a great director. Based on those two trailers, give him whatever he wants, let him make more DC movies. He’s got an eye man. Can’t spoil it, but it’s coming soon and that’s the good news.”

A Suicide Squad trailer has already been revealed though, but in more of a descriptive format and “the song choice” that Kevin was referring to was reportedly playing, according to Inquisitr, was Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody.” Part of the description gave different scenes and shots, some of which appeared to be a prison break to release the Suicide Squad prospects. Robocop’s Joel Kinnaman is seen filing through records of the villains, naming off each one and their attributes.

Going off Smith’s assessment of the movie trailer, it appears that the second one will be less gloomy and more about the humor, according to Cinema Blend. This seems to be on par with movie trailers in order to mix things up. Batman v. Superman:Dawn of Justice kind of did the same thing when they made the first one look like it was all about the conflict between the two superheroes, where in the second it was a little bit about the former, with the latter involving them both teaming up with Wonder Woman against a foe.

Kevin Smith will be hosting the CW DC Films Presents: Dawn Of The Justice League half-hour TV special on Jan. 19, 2016.

There’s also rumors of Suicide Squad’s Deadshot character, played by Will Smith, teaming with Ben Affleck in a solo Batman movie according to Inquisitr. It’s been said that Will has signed on for multiple movie appearances in the DC Cinematic Universe, so if this rumor comes to fruition, this would indeed be something fans would look forward to. Affleck is also rumored to be co-writing and directing the Batman solo film as well.

Anyway, keep an eye out for the new Suicide Squad movie trailer on Jan. 19, 2016 on the CW, and the film is scheduled to debut on August 5, 2016.
