Mom Ignores Dead Baby For Full Day While Chatting on Web, Says Raising Kids is Too Much Hassle
A Japanese mom left her baby unattended to die in a crib, not noticing his eventual death for at least full day due to her web-chatting habit, local media reports.
The Japanese mother, 29-year-old Yumiko Takahashi, had already lost two children to an accident and to an illness, said she last saw 19-month-old son Neo alive some time on June 24th of last year. Neo had been running a fever, and Takahashi put the boy down in his crib. Eventually, postmortem examinations revealed that Neo passed away from unreported causes at around 2PM the same day.
But Neo’s death went unnoticed by Takahashi until, unbelievably, June 26th — and police say the delay, during which time the baby was presumably not changed, offered food or drink, was at least 24 hours, perhaps more. On the 26th, the young mother discovered the baby dead in his crib. (A far less violent scenario than the American mom who shook her child to death for interrupting her FarmVille game.)
According to authorities, Takahashi’s first child perished within the first few days of his life due to an illness. Her second child, also a boy, plummeted to his death from an apartment balcony to his death. After the death of Neo, Takahashi was arrested by local police in Otsu, western Japan. She was charged with suspicion of child neglect and causing death.
Between June 24th and June 26th, Takahashi told police she spent time using internet forums and chatting as her baby lay dead in his crib. Reportedly, she told police:
“I have sought solace in chatting on the Internet to get connected to other people for three years since I got depressed for losing my son in an accident… Child raising is too much hassle.”
Police say that the year-long lag between Neo’s death and Takahashi’s arrest was due to the subsequent investigation.

Murder, yes. Premeditated, yes….What else did she think would happen if she left her alone all that time and was sick to begin with. She had to eat and relieve herself, what did she think the baby could do on its own. She willingly let that child die. If she doesn't get the death penalty, then life in prison in solitaire. Especially no computers or games. We cannot starve her or neglect her like she did her baby, that would be murder. But I sure would see to it she suffered for it. God bless those children, may they rest in peace. If she somehow gets off free, then medically make sure she cannot have any children and an order to never work with children. I cannot believe, yet know it is true, how parents can do this to their own flesh and blood. :- (

OMG! The things I would do to this woman! After having my first child I was unable to have any more, and would have done anything to have another one, and to hear of this tragity it saddens me! I just can't comprehend why a person would do this! Hopefully she will never be able to reproduce ever!

yes, that kind of neglect is most definitely murder. almost 2 days without noticing your INFANT child is dead in his crib? so even if he hadn't died you denied him food, drink, a clean diaper and human contact. This woman may have severe mental issues and depression possibly caused by the death of her first child, but it doesn't excuse her behavior. disgusting. poor babies. all three of them.

Being charged with murder is not enough. She should be left to die in the same manner as her child was. Being a parent should be the formost responsibility in a persons life, if it is too much of a hassle to be a mother then don't have them, or give them to someone who will cherish and respect their life and see them as they reallly are, a blessing!

WTH! If you are that addicted to something..being drugs..alcohol..internet..and it causes the death..especially a small child..should absolutely considered murder! Hope she gets what she deserves! I have 2 children and raised my twin brother and sister until they were 16..now am raising my 2 grandchildren..just can't comprehend it! I say throw the book and then through another one! I Agree i have a 3 month old.i check him every few minutes when he sleeps,and make sure he's changed on time and fed,that is too sad,she shouldn't have babies,if internet was more important than her kids…my kids are my life,everything else can wait.kids come first.

My kids are 12 & 11 and I still check on them at night. That poor baby, luckily he's in heaven now, giggling with all the other angels. I hope them give this person the death penalty. And her second child accidentaly "fell"out of a window?? I truly don't believe that…at all, she murdered that child as well. I shudder to think about other kids in that country if this is how long these murderess take to be investigated.

Sorry but there is no excuse for something like that. Sometimes i wish the same would happen to them. Makes me sick. I've been reading so much crap online lately about children and babies dying because their so called parents don't care for them or purposely hurt them like they're not even human. I feel sorry for her child. She should have been taking care of the one that she HAD alive not chatting it up in a chat room. Sorry no excuses. The mental health thing? I'm bipolar I with borderline personality disorder ptsd and panic and anxiety disorder also here's the kicker- My doctor has me on ZERO medication for it because I'm breast feeding it's not an excuse for poor parenting sorry it's not. You have a sick baby you TEND to that baby. Even not sick you should check on their well being. The other one probably fell off the balcony as she was playing on the computer. My little girl is sick right now she's 9 months old and she hasn't been out of my sight all day. They can't care for themselves….don't want the responsibility?
