Amiyah Scott Quits ‘The Real Housewives Of Atlanta’ Over Alleged Mistreatment During Filming
Amiyah Scott was added to The Real Housewives of Atlanta for Season 8, but has yet to make an appearance. When news broke that the franchise was adding a transgender actress, there was incredible hype. Since the initial announcement, there hasn’t been much thought about Amiyah Scott. The Real Housewives of Atlanta has had so much drama up to this point that Scott wasn’t terribly missed. Now, the reason behind her absence is coming out and it has fans enraged at what is happening at Bravo.
According to Reality Tea, Amiyah Scott quit The Real Housewives of Atlanta over their mistreatment of her. Apparently, there was a lot the producers wanted from Scott and she was uncomfortable doing it. They allegedly wanted her to become a sex symbol, which was a little much for someone who is more reserved. Yes, she is beautiful, but she wasn’t willing to use sex as a way to get what she wanted. It is rumored that the Real Housewives of Atlanta people also wanted her to be the bad girl and start some of the drama. As a newbie coming in, Amiyah Scott was uncomfortable taking on that role. After bickering back and forth, Amiyah Scott walked away from The Real Housewives of Atlanta. Sometimes the hassle isn’t worth the paycheck.

Even though Amiyah Scott decided against being a cast member on The Real Housewives of Atlanta, she took the high road. Instead of bashing the production company and the network, she decided to keep the negativity away. They were not going to portray her as a sex symbol because she is more than that. Scott opted to participate in the reality show to help break the stereotypes of transgender females and when that wasn’t going to happen, she opted to leave. With the closing of this opportunity, she may have made the best decision of her career yet.
After Amiyah Scott decided not to participate in The Real Housewives of Atlanta, she was approached with another big opportunity. According to BET, it seems that Lee Daniels saw the announcement of Scott replacing NeNe Leaks on the reality show and thought she would be a good fit for a new show he has in the works. In fact, it is a spin-off of the wildly successful Fox series Empire. It will be centered around a young Cookie Lyons, and Scott was cast as a part of a young girl group. The show is untitled as of yet, but if it is anything like Empire, it is destined for success.

Without the Georgia peach to hold in her hand, Amiyah Scott is now a free woman. She isn’t going to be forced into doing anything that makes her uncomfortable and she can be who she wants to be. Transgenders are often stereotyped, and unfairly so. Many of them wish to be productive members of society but instead end up the target of abuse and neglect when it comes to their everyday lives. Scott made the choice to walk away from The Real Housewives of Atlanta, and ended up keeping her integrity in tact. She likely wouldn’t be able to say that had she stayed filming with the ladies.
Despite losing the gig on The Real Housewives of Atlanta, Amiyah Scott is in a good place. She realizes that she had to make a call about what to do. If she continued to film and did what the producers allegedly asked of her, she would be compromising everything she believes in. Instead, Amiyah Scott walked away from a reality show and ended up landing a role on a television series that is posed to be a big hit. When one door closes another one opens, and as Amiyah Scott knows, sometimes the second door is better than the first.
