The Weeknd And Future Surprise Song Collaboration — Another Metro Boomin’ Hit

The Weeknd and Future just hit their fans with a surprise collaboration, and it’s hot. If you liked Drake and Future’s “Diamonds Dancing,” you’ll like this one.

Ironically, The Weeknd released the track over the weekend. He uploaded it to his Soundcloud page. There were no prior talks about a Weeknd/Future collaboration. However, as you know from What a Time to Be Alive— the Drake collaboration — Future and OVO artists are all about springing something new on their fans.

Refinery 29 reports, “[The Weeknd] Tesfaye’s turning The Ritz into the poor house and having lots of fun with a bunch of girls from the West Side. Not to mention he’s on his own time.” Well, it seems that some important rap and hip hop influences are cool with The Weeknd’s time also.

Producer Metro Boomin’ was a key player in the success of Future’s last collaboration mixtape. Likewise, OVO and Future are implementing him again in this Weeknd collaboration, called “Low Life.” In the last two days since its Christmas upload, it’s accumulated 182,000 likes and 46,500 shares. Obviously, the Weeknd and Future song is a winner. You can listen to it below.

This was a clever Christmas gift for Weeknd and Future fans, alike — especially since it’s available for free streaming. The Independent says that the track sounds similar to other songs the two artists have done separately. The source states as follows:

“‘Low Life’ which has a similar rhythm to The Weeknd’s ‘Often’ and a similar flow to Future’s ‘Diamonds Dancing’, is the second time the pair have appeared on the same track, following Mike WiLL Made It’s ‘Drinks On Us’ (which contains the most avant garde drum fill of 2015, listen out for it).”

Weeknd’s “Drinks On Us” has a different atmosphere within the track. It actually sounds like something to listen to while “under the influence.” However, Weeknd and Future’s “Low Life” doesn’t necessarily have the same vibe. If anything, it’s a track that would make you want to get “under the influence.”

Nonetheless, Weeknd also released another track on the same day. This was a remix of Jeremih’s “Pass Dat.” Of course, from the title, you can guess the content of the song. If you’d like to listen to the track, it’s below.

The Weeknd has made it clear that you should have him in your corner. In the “Pass Dat” lyrics, he states, “If you’re not with me, I feel bad for your team. You should cut them off, you can follow your dreams.” And unless you’ve been living underground, literally, you know that OVO and Freebandz are doing big things right now.

However, aside from music, The Weeknd and Future seem to be having relationship issues, respectively. Actually, maybe the two are influenced by those problems and have made their songs, accordingly. Future’s dealing with backlash from his lyrics and allegations which state that he’s still sleeping with Ciara, even while she’s supposedly celibate with Russell Wilson. Then, too, Weeknd just broke up with his companion, Bella Hadid, says Business Standard.

Sometimes, relationships aren’t meant to work out. You have to know when to exit and let the past be the past. Unfortunately, they can’t change what’s been done or said. However, Weeknd and Future can both change their futures by focusing on the present.

Sure, as can be heard in their songs, it’s party time for now. Yet, once it’s time to settle back down, hopefully they will have taken what was learned in previous relationships and apply it. That’s what counts.

Nevertheless, both new tracks are hot, as they stand. Pay attention to Billboard in the coming weeks. Maybe you’ll see one of them on the charts.

All in all, what are your thoughts about the Weeknd and Future collaboration? Do you like their surprises? Feel free to share in the comments.
