Prince Charles Embarrassing? Prince William And Prince Harry Open Up About Dad In New Interview

Prince Charles can be embarrassing to his sons, Prince William and Prince Harry. This was definitely true when both young men were in their school years. They discuss in an upcoming TV special how their father’s amusement used to often be at their expense when he’d laugh at inappropriate times.

According to People, Princes William and Harry will talk with comedy duo, Ant and Dec, in a new documentary set to air in January. The show is called When Ant and Dec Met The Prince: 40 Years of the Prince’s Trust.

In the program, Prince William and Prince Harry open up to Ant and Dec about their father, the Prince of Wales. Ant and Dec also serve as ambassadors for Prince Charles’s foundation, the Prince’s Trust.

Ant and Dec told Event magazine that they focused the show around Prince Charles, but also interacted with his sons. William and Harry revealed that their father was “rabbiting on” whenever things would go wrong.

There was one instance in which a school production was going on, but there a few gaffes along the way. Things got a little embarrassing for Prince William, who was appearing in the production. When the lights and special effects were going “haywire,” it wasn’t just Prince Charles who was laughing during the bad moment. His father and the boys’ grandfather, Prince Phillip, got a chuckle out of the mishap as well.

Daily Mail reports that Prince William shares in the interview that it’s a family trait for some to laugh “when things go wrong.” The incidences both William and Harry referred to all happened when they were young and in school. It’s unclear if they get embarrassed as easily today. They do add that one thing they can’t be certain of is letters they receive from their father. With his bad handwriting, it’s hard for them to decipher if they’re being praised or in trouble half the time.

As the report goes on to say, letters sent to Government Ministries is referenced as the “black spider memos” because Prince Charles’ handwriting is so hard to read. As Charles writes throughout the day, his writing becomes more illegible because he gets tired.

Ant and Dec told Event magazine that they spent a year following Prince Charles for this documentary. In the show, Charles admits that he hasn’t yet changed either of his grandchildren’s diapers, but is relieved to know that they’ll be around “to look after me when I am doddering about.”

Due to their strong accent, Ant and Dec said there were times when they asked Charles a question he’d be confused and “just smile.”

Ant confesses that there were times he wasn’t necessarily following royal protocol during filming because he found himself being a little to physical with Charles.

“I found myself getting a bit over-excited and grabbing His Royal Highness and slapping him on the back… I had to keep stopping myself,” he said.

Does it surprise you to hear that Prince Charles embarrassed his sons? All kids go through times in their childhood when their parents laugh at something they did that made it seem like the world was coming to an end. Obviously, Prince William and Prince Harry are no different in that respect.
