Gwen Stefani & Blake Shelton Survived Separate Splits To Find Steamy Love On ‘The Voice’: Hot Hook-Up Timeline

Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton started 2015 as married couples – as in, Gwen was married to Gavin Rossdale, and Blake was wed to Miranda Lambert. Then came two shockers: Shelton and Miranda were divorcing, and Stefani and Gavin also decided to divorce. It seemed only natural that the two coaches and crooners on The Voice would form a platonic friendship over their mutual suffering, but no one imagined just how quickly platonic would turn to passion. And a timeline of the romance between Stefani and Shelton reveals that credit actually goes to someone unexpected – Christina Aguilera, pointed out ET.

The Voice hired Gwen because Christina Aguilera was taking a hiatus for her new baby girl.

“So excited to have you join #TheVoice squad @GwenStefani! Welcome to our crazy fam! Kisses- xoxo #blondesdoitbest,” tweeted Christina.

Then came what in retrospect is an irony. Stefani chose then-husband Rossdale to be her team’s mentor.

“This fall, honored to be part of #TheVoice w/ the lovely & talented @gwenstefani,” shared the little-did-she-know-he-was-cheating Gavin on social media.

The Voice coaches quickly became pals, joshing around and having fun even as the marriages of two coaches teetered on the brink of break-ups.

And then in July came the first bombshell breakup as Lambert and Shelton announced that they were divorcing. They requested that rather than have public scrutiny into what happened to end their four-year marriage, they be permitted privacy.

“We are real people, with real lives, with real families, friends, and colleagues. Therefore, we kindly ask for privacy and compassion concerning this very personal matter,” read the official statement from their representatives.

But the shocks of the summer were far from over, as Stefani and Rossdale announced their own divorce plans in August. The 13-year marriage was finalized in late October, and Gavin agreed with Gwen on an arrangement for their trio of sons that provides for shared custody.

“We remain partners in parenthood and are committed to jointly raising our three sons in a happy and healthy environment,” stated that couple’s farewell-to-our-marriage public comment.

In September, Blake and Gwen started to make it clear that they were finding support in each other.

“I haven’t met one coach that’s been on this show that I wouldn’t consider at this point a really good friend,” Shelton revealed. “Any of the coaches that I’ve worked with on this show I can call at any moment and talk to.”

And Stefani expressed her appreciation for the joy she’d found on The Voice.

“It’s so amazing!” she exclaimed. “Honestly, I’ve had so much fun so far, and it’s so motivating. I think this is the funnest thing I’ve ever done.”

Hmmm. The flirty fun had begun, and escalated to PDA behind those big chairs on The Voice. And although Adam Levine went along for the ride the first time that Blake and Gwen went to Oklahoma, Stefani made it clear in her tweet about just which of those men rated tops in her life.

Then came the famous Halloween sighting where they were beaming together and seen exiting a party in the same motor vehicle. Stefani summed up why she decided to get together with Shelton, linking her desire to canoodle with the country crooner to the explosion of her marriage after three kids and 13 years.

“We’re just trying to have fun, you know? I was literally that party girl that you hear about when their life blows up. And you’re like, ‘Oh, I’m going out! Watch me!'”

Gwen and Blake finally apparently had enough of the romance rumors and respectively turned to their reps to confirm their hot hook-up. Shelton’s spokesperson provided one confirmation, while Stefani’s rep offered the other.

“Gwen and Blake are longtime friends who have very recently started dating,” said the spokesperson for the rep.

And just in case anyone wanted additional confirmation, Stefani herself tweeted out the now-famous GIF of their kissing marathon just in time for a Xmas gift for her fans.

So with all that PDA that’s been observed, just what goes on when the cameras aren’t flashing and no one can see? Stefani and Shelton have make-out sessions like a pair of teens, according to Hollywood Life.

Before the 46-year-old pop star dated the 39-year-old country crooner, Gwen had dated a mere two other guys. As a result, she and Blake are passionate for each other.

“The guy is an old school gentleman and makes sure Gwen knows he thinks she’s the most beautiful woman on the planet. He lavishes her with compliments, gifts, and affection — even in public. As long as they know no cameras are on them, they are making out like teenagers!” an insider told Hollywood Life.

As to how the couple spent Christmas, Stefani and Shelton enjoyed going to his home in Oklahoma for the holidays, according to People.

From Dairy Queen to shopping, they sought to blend into the crowds…without success, as one fan showed.

Janet Williams Zacharias shared a photo showing her discovery of Stefani and Shelton at Atwoods on her Facebook page.
