WWE News: WWE Planning Finn Balor Versus Sami Zayn For The NXT Title At Big Dallas NXT Takeover Special

WWE NXT has made significant strides in the last year and has become the place for some of the best wrestling on the planet. Many feel that NXT presents the show WWE should produce on the main roster weekly, but does not due to another person operating it. Vince McMahon controls most of what you see on the main roster, whereas NXT is primarily run through Triple H. Every title change and push there, even getting on the show, it all goes through The Game. Triple H also tries out storylines here that he might want to use on the main roster.

The NXT brand is more than simply a testing facility filled with aspiring WWE Superstars and Divas. It is a brand that gives us its own unique greatness that nothing else in WWE can provide. It is not a wonder that so many want to be there right now. The NXT Takeover specials are seen as some of the best wrestling programming fans can find. The live specials always tend to give the crowds fun matches and big moments.

WWE tried to bring NXT to WrestleMania weekend last year in that they had a show go down in San Jose the weekend of the event, which performed very well from the crowd response to the fact that even Vince McMahon loved it. Now, WWE seemingly wants to take it up a notch. They are reportedly planning on doing a Takeover special in Dallas the weekend of WrestleMania 32, but in a much bigger way in a large venue as well as making it a live special on the WWE Network like the others. Last year, it was just basically a live event.

Many believe this is WWE’s way of keeping people in the WWE world of things during WrestleMania week, rather than Independent companies taking the crowd and mooching off of the WWE during the week. Typically, WrestleMania week is filled with Indie companies going out of their way to have shows near the WrestleMania venue. While they won’t run a show the Sunday of Mania, they will run them on Friday and Saturday. WWE was able to curb this a bit last year with the NXT show in San Jose, but this year they could potentially do much better.

The show they did in Brooklyn to counteract the WWE SummerSlam moochers was very successful, and it’s likely WWE feels they can continue to provide these shows for all big events. It is uncertain what sort of card WWE will put together for the show, but it is said to be WWE NXT’s WrestleMania. That means they will probably plan some huge matches.

According to The Wrestling Observer, one such match being considered for the show is Finn Balor defending the NXT Championship against Sami Zayn. The idea is that the rivalry will “peak” by this time, which would put them both in the main event of the show.

There is no word on whether he will turn heel by this time, but it could very well occur. One rumored plan was for Sami Zayn to make a surprise appearance in the Royal Rumble and take out Kevin Owens, which would set up a WrestleMania match between the two men. However, Zayn working both nights would be unlikely.

In saying this, however, Kevin Owens worked the main event of the NXT Brooklyn show and ended up working the SummerSlam event the following night. He even performed in a ladder match on the NXT show.

With this being said, Zayn might be booked for the NXT show but could also make WrestleMania 32?s card. This is, of course, all depending on what WWE wants to do at the show of shows. A lot can change in WWE by the time WrestleMania rolls around.
