The “I’m Farming and I Grow It” video created by three country boys from Kansas became and Internet sensation and went viral on You Tube and Facebook. The video’s producer Greg Peterson told the Kansas City Star that he cannot stand the LMFAO song, “Sexy and I Know It” which inspired the popular spoof and just started “switching around some words” while hanging out at a Kansas State University area Sonic while sipping on milkshakes with his buddies. “I’m Farming and I Grow It” became a full-fledged song when Peterson returned home to the family farm and enlisted the help of his brothers, sister, parents and even 88-year-old Grandma to make the LMFAO parody video.

Greg convinced his little brothers Nathan 18, and Kendal, 15 into singing the “I’m Farming and I Grow It” lyrics with him as they did their farming chores on the family’s Saline County farm. Filming of the LMFAO spoof began at dawn, so their sister Laura could capture the dawn to dusk day of work required to run a successful farm. Peterson is an ag-journalism major who is also musically inclined and feels passionate about promoting Kansas agriculture. Laura follows her brothers as they rap the lyrics to “I’m Farming and I Grow It” and do traditional farm chores such as feeding cattle, bucking hay, cutting wheat, driving tractors and combines until the sun sets in the sky.

“When we were little kids, we’d all play with our toy tractors. We’d farm together with our tractors on the carpet. The dream was we’d all farm together with Dad,” Peterson told the Kansas City Star.

The brothers have been invited to attend the national FFA Convention this year in Kentucky due to the popularity of the “I’m Farming and I Grow It” video which promotes the agriculture industry and the importance of family farms in America.
