Ben Affleck Is ‘Very Pleased’ With ‘Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice’ Claims BFF Matt Damon

This coming spring will mark the first time fans will have the opportunity to see Ben Affleck as the new Batman. Although many fans are still wondering what to expect with Affleck’s portrayal of the iconic hero in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Affleck’s best friend, Matt Damon, recently had a few words to share on the matter.

In an interview with Variety, Damon was asked about his friend’s part in the movie, and whether or not he had any plans to join Affleck in the world of comic book movies. In reply, Damon revealed that Affleck has already seen an early cut of the film, and that he is very happy with what he has seen so far.

“And I hear [Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice] is good. I haven’t seen it yet but he’s [Affleck] seen a rough cut and I think he’s very pleased… But no, I don’t know that there are any comic book characters left.”

Although fans might not be able to see Damon and Affleck team up as superheroes in the near future, it is certainly good to know that Affleck is “very pleased” with his part in the upcoming film. Whether or not fans will agree with Affleck is yet to be seen.

Meanwhile, Affleck has not been shy about revealing details on the new film. In particular, Affleck has opened up about how his version of the caped crusader is very different from Christopher Nolan’s work on the Dark Knight trilogy. In fact, in a recent interview with Studio Cine Live, Affleck talked in detail about the nature of his character, and how fans can expect a brand new take on the iconic hero.

For starters, Ben Affleck revealed that Bruce Wayne’s motivations for living a playboy lifestyle is driven by a certain level of emptiness. Apparently, this emptiness stems from years of putting criminals away, which has left Batman more frustrated than anything else in his fight for justice.

“He lives that life at full tilt,” Affleck explained in the interview. “He courts many women, owns many cars, and parties a lot. He does that as a way to fill the void in his soul. Moreover, past incarnations dealt with a straightforward search for justice. This time, Batman’s reasoning is clouded by frustration, bitterness, and anger.”

At the same time, Affleck also discussed how his take on the character is nothing like the version Nolan produced. That being said, Affleck did assure fans that Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice will stick close to the comic book version of the character and will not stray too far afield. “Christopher Nolan used his Batman to tell a finite story. My version is different, but remains faithful to the Batman mythology and all the themes associated with it.”

Lastly, Affleck discussed how the new film will incorporate a number of different superheroes in the action. This is yet another aspect of the movie that differs from Nolan’s trilogy, which did not include any heroes with superhuman abilities.

“Nolan’s Batman isn’t part of a universe where other superheroes exist as well. Here — because we’re working towards the Justice League — there’s Superman, and it’s a world populated with super beings,” Affleck stated. “This situation generates an altogether new reality.”

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is directed by Zack Snyder. The movie is set to be released in theaters on March 25, 2016.

Along with Affleck, the film is set to star Henry Cavill as Superman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, and Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor.
