Casey Anthony’s Lawyer Reveals ‘Serious Mental Illness’ in Tell-All

Posted: June 27, 2012

Looks like Casey Anthony’s public image isn’t getting any better. Her former lawyer, Jose Baez, who represented her in the controversial case surrounding the death of her daughter, Caylee, has written a tell-all. As it turns out the lawyer has a lot to tell, and it’s not about whether or not he thought she was guilty or innocent of the crime.

In Presumed Guilty, Casey Anthony: The Inside Story, Baez unveils that Casey Anthony at times lived “in a fantasy world.” In addition to that, he has made claims that she has some major mental health issues to contend to, stating that the detectives should have known, ” ‘Wait a minute, we’re not dealing with someone who is playing with a full deck.’ ”

As it’s famously known, Anthony gave conflicting story, telling the cops that Caylee was kidnapped by a babysitter and that she took on her own search for about a month before she even reported her missing to the police. Of course, Baez argued against this game plan and said Caylee drowned and that it was the defendant’s father that hid her body.

When asked why he chose to write the book about Anthony after all is said and done, Baez explained, “I wrote the book because there was so much that people didn’t know, and still don’t know,This book is more than 420 pages of nothing but the inside story. I think people’s reaction will be surprised at how much they don’t know. My goal wasn’t to change anyone’s minds. My goal was to tell the story and if people change their minds, it will be because [they learned] more facts.”

Although the book is about Casey, Baez insists that she will not profit from it “in any way, shape or form.”

Do you think this book will change the public perception of Casey Anthony?

I really do not a book to tell me that she is crazy..but she is smart- crazy to kill her child and hide her for a month so that evidence could not be formulated..all though I will still buy the book as long as she gets no money from it.

  2. See more about the defense of Casey Anthony at http://www.writerkeith.com.

  3. So none of the info would be under lawyer confidentiality?

  4. Lawyer confidentiality only applies to matters told to a lawyer when confidence is perceived. For example, if you tell your lawyer something in the lobby of a courthouse, doesn't apply because you're in a public place. There is a whole slew of technicalities that go along with it.

  5. Uh ya but I am sure he will profit.

  6. what biez is doing is collecting the money and paying for her needs. does he really think we are stupid. I really hope nobody buys the book because they will be supporting a baby killer.

  8. i want nothing to do with this bitch who killed her kid

  9. He is as big a piece of slime as she is! Ban this book!

  10. blame Nancy Grace and the prosecution for pushing for a capital murder charge, If the idiots would have went for child abuse and neglect they would have nailed her dead to rights and she would be doing a lot of time, but between public outcry and the media the prosecution dropped the ball. Girl most probably is mentally ill as well. enough said

I don't think anyone should buy her book you know it will be all lies, its just another way for her to be in the spot light lets not let keep telling her lies.

Everyone just needs to move on from this. No one knows the real truth about what happened to that little girl except Caylee herself. Just leave Casey, her family and her lawyer alone. Want to read it? Buy it. Don't? Don't buy it.

Most people R so clueless when it comes to the trial it hurts! It was almost impossible that Casey bought or made chloroform. Anyone that knows something about chemistry knows that just because its easy to say doesn't mean its easy to do. So the prosecution was guessing from the start. Only the Amer public would be dumb enough to buy into the prosecution's case. We keep making dumber and dumber Amers every gen.

  16. this book will only show what a sleaze bag this lawyer really is. I could not set next to a woman who killed her baby, went out partying while the child body was stining up the car and then theow her in the bushes like a dead dog. to hell with both of them,

  17. Regardless of whether Anthony is a scumbag or, not, isin't it UNETHICAL, for her scumbag Lawyer to do this?

That makes him even more of a douchebag. Can't believe it's okay to lie and cheat to get a guilty person off of murder charges. If she questioned her mental state, he shouldn't have defended her. Now all he's showing the world is what a money grubbing piece of slime he is and that in the end, all he was after was money, not truth. How he can work as a lawyer is unbelievable.

  21. he is a criminal lawyer.

What you're forgetting is that her mother was a nurse and had access to it. What's stupid is that IDIOTS like you will go to lengths to defend a cold blooded killer. Why b/c she's female, tiny and somewhat pretty? Casey was fooling people, you included, from childhood. Her trunk, was soaked with chloroform. Did it miraculeously appear there? Oh wait, it must have been that nanny that only Casey herself knew of that put it there to frame Casey. It's clear you don't have a clue!

  23. I wont give anyone especially the guy that got her off a DIME…shes writing a book too and I wont give her psycho a** one penny either! we need to just ignore her so she disappears and NOT patronize any of this!

I won't watch a movie about her, buy a book about her, or from him. I just wish the media would quit keeping her in the spotlight.

Public perception of the murderess won't change but it would change for the lawyer – he would be seen as a co-conspirator.

Erica Lynn, first of all chloroform comes from a dead body decomposing if they would of charged her with hiding a corpse they would of convicted because the only thing they proved was there was a body in her trunk you people that r nay sayers about casey need to learn the law, the jury did the right thing because there was no proof she killed her daughter in order to convict you have to know how it was done was it premeditated 1st degree accidental neglect, 2nd degree manslaughter nobody knows so unless you know you cant convict and there was no evidence even the prosecution didnt know how it happend so how can the jury convict you idiots need to stop talking about stuff you know nothing about

your an idiot how can the lawyer be seen as a co conspirite when he idnt even know who casey was when caley died do u even know what the word means you people amaze me co conspiriter means o assist or help with the crime and he didnt even know casey til after she was already in jail idiot

  32. Whatever happened to lawyer-client confidentiality?

  33. I agree with you would should STOP giving her the time and attention. These people feed off of that

I just cant see any good in any of this, If there is a such thing as karma and getting what you deserve then they are in for a miserable life.

  36. There were othjer charges the jurors could have given Casey. It isn't Nancy Grace's blame at all Nancy told the story as it unfolded, she gave the facts. Her guests on the show also had input about the case. did you watch Nancy from the begining of the case?

  37. By the way Casey dropped Jose as her attorney.

Serious mental issues – do ya think !?!?!?!?!?!

  39. you are so right,

  40. I did, Elizabeth, and I agree with you.

  41. I'm not going to pass judgment unless I've read the book. I'm not a fan of Baez, but I can't accuse him of writing all lies unless I know what he's said. I don't think Casey will be able to benefit financially from this — there's far too much scrutiny on her and I think the last thing she wants right now is the spot light, otherwise, why is she hiding?

  42. There you go! The voice of reason.

  43. That's right, and it's a criminal lawyer's duty to do the best he can for his client, regardless. I don't know why more people don't realize that. I didn't like him, either, but the jury made the decision — not Baez.

  44. Kim, I get your point, but there was no real evidence that Scott Peterson killed Lacy, either. He was convicted solely on circumstantial evidence — mainly his behavior — and got the death penalty. The cases were different, but similar in many ways. I've been in the legal profession for over 30 years and the justice system never ceases to amaze me. In short, we will never know what really happened, but she could have been convicted of first degree murder and wasn't. I can live with that, but I am curious about what Baez has to say. I may buy his book under an assumed name! LOL

  45. No, it's not unethica once a case is overl. Lawyers write books about their cases all the time. Many write novels loosely based on actual cases.

  46. Ooops. Some bad typing there. I meant unethical, of course.

  50. Casey won't profit from it? Yeah, right=P I'd be willing to bet the only reason HE wrote it instead of her was to get around the fact that she can't profit from the crime. They've been hand in hand through the whole thing, why would anyone believe anything has changed? I still find it revolting that she didn't get convicted of neglect at the very least. It basically sends the message that your kids are your property, if they go "missing", you don't even have to tell anyone, they're "your" kids! Absolutely disgusting=P

  51. They did try for neglect. It was the least of the charges after the 2 she was convicted of. I still don't understand how she got away with that one=P And I'm honestly surprised they haven't charged her mother with perjury. I expected that to follow close on the heels of Casey's trial.

  52. I saw this earlier. I've been telling everyone, that She's so mentally unstable, it's going to be a matter of time before she murders again. Or someone murders her! I say, keep her in the lime light remind everyone how bad She's hated, and some radical will be pushed to do something about it.
