Jill Duggar Dillard Uses Spanish Teacher As Babysitter In ‘Jill & Jessa: Counting On’ Promo [Video]

Jill Duggar Dillard is shown quitting school in the latest Jill & Jessa: Counting On promo clip. However, the missionary midwife doesn’t stop learning just because she has to stay home to take care of her baby. Instead, she makes her Spanish teacher double as a babysitter.

During the premiere of Jill & Jessa: Counting On, Jill Duggar and her husband, Derick Dillard, revealed that they’re still trying to learn Spanish so that they can better communicate with the people whom they are proselytizing. Jill and Derick have been reluctant to reveal where in the world they’re living during their current long-term mission trip, simply saying that they’re somewhere in Central America. Earlier this summer, the couple went on a short-term trip to El Salvador to prepare themselves for life in the mission field. However, they’ll most likely be staying in Guatemala from now on. This is where they’ve been taking Spanish classes.

Jill Duggar and her husband informed Jill & Jessa: Counting On viewers that the first part of their Guatemalan mission trip will be focused on immersing themselves in local culture and taking Spanish classes, and this is something the couple has been criticized for. Some of Jill and Derick’s fans have questioned the couple’s decision to take Spanish classes in Guatemala because they are using donations to fund their mission trip. These critics have pointed out that it would have been more cost-effective for Derick and Jill to take Spanish classes in the States before leaving for another country. However, Jill Duggar wants Jill & Jessa: Counting On viewers to know that she’s trying to learn the language as quickly as she can so that she can begin her real mission work ASAP.

In a new Jill & Jessa: Counting On promo shared by ET Online, Jill Duggar reveals that she had to quit attending Spanish classes with Derick Dillard because she needed to stay at home to care for their baby son, Israel. Jill says that a Spanish teacher has been coming to her house instead so that she can keep up with her husband, and she reassures her mission trip donors that the Spanish tutor’s trip isn’t costing them extra dinero.

“That’s something that is typical around here,” Jill Duggar says in the Jill & Jessa: Counting On clip below. “The teachers don’t charge any extra to come to your house. It’s really nice.”

As you can see, life isn’t as nice for poor Derick Dillard. He’s shown wandering around in the rain while his wife studies in the comfort of their nice new home. According to Derick, he and Jill didn’t expect it to be so wet in Guatemala.

Jill Duggar is also shown taking advantage of having her Spanish teacher at home with her. When the tutor takes a break from helping Jill with her studies, it’s to comfort a crying Israel.

“Israel can be a little distracting whenever I’m trying to concentrate,” Jill Duggar explains. She says this is why she’s “grateful” that her Spanish teacher is also a mom who is used to caring for young boys.

Jill Duggar’s Spanish teacher isn’t the only one who has babysat Israel during Jill and Derick’s mission trip. As the Inquisitr previously reported, Jill’s younger sister, 18-year-old Joy, and one of her close friends, Bringing Up Bates star Carlin Bates, headed to Central America with Jill Duggar and Derick Dillard back in August. Jill and Derick had flown back home to attend Michaella Bates’ wedding and to film a TLC special about sexual abuse, so they decided to take advantage of their trip back to the States by enlisting two babysitters to bring back with them.

“My younger sister, Joy, and her best friend, Carlin Bates, came home with us! It’s been a blast having company and they’ve been such a great help to us while we bury ourselves in the books!” Jill Duggar wrote in an August 31 post on the Dillard Family website. “I will not want them to leave after their two week visit! I love having them here for the friendship and Israel certainly loves all the extra attention!”

Even though Jill Duggar is currently too busy learning Spanish and taking care of Israel to do a lot of real mission work, she recently reassured fans that she’s doing what she can to spread the gospel. In a November 23 update on the Dillard Family website, she revealed that she had convinced her Christian Spanish teacher to increase her church attendance. Jill also treated her tutor to a movie night that included a viewing of the movie War Room and a heaping helping of one of the Duggar’s favorite dinner foods, a dish called Chicken Etti.

What do you think of Jill Duggar and Derick Dillard learning Spanish in Guatemala instead of taking classes in the States? And do you think it’s fair that Jill expects her Spanish teacher to help her take care of Israel?
