There is big news from those who have seen The Force Awakens at its world premiere last night. The first film of the sequel trilogy earned box office receipts of $14.1 million its opening night, as well as setting attendance records, as reported by The Inquisitr. Those who don’t want to learn any important information about the plot or characters in the latest Star Wars movie should definitely stop reading here.

The major, stunning news [SPOILER ALERT] coming from those have seen Star Wars: The Force Awakens is that, chief smuggler, scoundrel, and hero, Han Solo, dies, as reported by Bustle. Incredibly, he dies at the hands of Kylo Ren, who, unbelievably, turns out to be Han Solo’s son, Ben Solo, as reported by Heavy.

Han Solo’s death is described at being “sad” and “heroic.” Ren’s murder of his father is said to “cut off his last emotional tie” with Han Solo, thus completing a transition to the dark side.

A very low quality, though seemingly genuine, clip of the scene was uploaded to YouTube.

Screenshots of the scene are circulating on social media.

Reportedly, at the time Kylo kills Solo, Han was attempting to convince his son that Snooke is using him, and that after he has achieved his goals he will “crush” Ren. The eyes of the father and son are said to meet and fill with tears, with Han Solo begging his son to return home. Reportedly, Ren tells his father that he is too far gone and that he must be “free of this pain.”

Kylo Ren is said to then ask for Han Solo’s help, and his father pledges to do anything to help him. With those words from Solo, Ren pulls out his lightsaber and stabs his father, apparently through the stomach, while telling him “thank you.” Then, Han Solo dies after falling to the ground. Chewbacca is said to let out a touching howl, reminding viewers of the special bond between Han Solo and the Wookie.

Chewbacca was originally designed after George Lucas’ Alaskan malamute, according to Mental Floss, and the beloved character has a definite man’s-best-friend-like appearance, which somehow makes Chewbacca’s sorrow with his life-long friend’s death more compelling, and within the reach of the average viewer. It certainly seems to be an end befitting of one of the greatest science fiction characters of all-time.

Other big news is that Han Solo and Princess Leia were married, but are separated during the time The Force Awakens takes place. Ben Solo is Princess Leia’s son. Further, it is reported that Luke attempted to train Ben in the Jedi arts, but things didn’t go so well and he ended up becoming Kylo Ren and turning to the dark side.

Han and Leia are said to meet to discuss their failings as parents, as well as Ren’s seeming turn to evil. Leia is said to profess a belief that their son still had some good left in him. The meeting prompts Han Solo’s confrontation with Ren and his untimely death.

After Han Solo dies, the film is reported to cut to Leia, who has felt the disturbance in the force, as characters sensitive to the force have been prone to do in past Star Wars.

Adam Driver has been noted for an outstanding portrayal of Kylo Ren. Overall, critics and fans alike are reported to be responding with “overwhelmingly positive reviews” of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, as reported by The Inqusitr.

Going into the premier of the movie, some fans have expressed that they would be disappointed if Han Solo dies. At least, as Bustle writes, “he didn’t go out like a punk.”
