Joey Feek Cancer Update: Rory Feek Shares Pictures Of Daughters, Joey Strong Enough To Get Out Of Bed In Time For Christmas

Joey and Rory Feek have a lot to be thankful for this holiday season. Not only are they surrounded by their family and friends, Joey, who has been confined to her bed over the past month or so, has become strong enough to walk — just in time to celebrate Christmas.

As the Inquisitr previously reported, Joey Feek was diagnosed with stage four cervical cancer last year, three months after giving birth to her daughter Indiana (Indy). She later underwent a radical hysterectomy and several rounds of radiation and chemotherapy. Although she appeared to be doing better, in mid-October, her doctors discovered that her cancer had not only returned, but had spread to her colon, and was continuing to spread aggressively through her body. Because there was nothing left for the doctors to do, Joey made the heartbreaking decision to stop treatment and enter hospice care. Joey, Rory, and Indiana returned to Joey’s hometown in Indiana so she could spend her final days, however many that may be, with those she loves the most.

Since her cancer diagnosis, Rory Feek, Joey’s husband and duet partner, has been documenting her battle on his blog, This Life I Live. Fans of the country music duo Joey + Rory have started anxiously waiting for Rory’s next post, letting them know the status of Joey’s condition. Most recently, Rory shared a blog post, titled “a gift,” in which he described a heartwarming moment that took place on Friday, December 11.

As previously mentioned, Joey’s cancer has made her so weak that she hasn’t been able to walk, leaving her confined to her bed. However, on Friday, Joey surprised her entire family when she not only got out of her hospice bed, but walked from her bedroom to the living room. Rory, being the videographer that he is, captured the touching moment on video.

“Honestly, I think Joey just got tired of listening to life going on in the rooms outside of her bedroom and tired of wondering what it would be like to be part of it … and she just had her sister Jody help her out of bed and she came out and sat down and joined in for about an hour and a half,” Rory wrote. “We had some friends and family here at the house with us, and when the door to her bedroom opened up and she came out in the living room, we almost couldn’t believe our eyes. We were all so proud of her, but I think Joey was even more proud of herself.”

Rory has also been keeping their fans updated on their Facebook page, sharing his blog posts, and posting pictures of him and his family. For those of you who don’t know, Rory has two older daughters, Heidi and Hopie, from his previous marriage. On Thursday, December 17, Rory shared a photo of Hopie carrying Indy, both girls’ smiles beaming. Rory captioned the photo by saying: “… taking Hopie and Indy out for breakfast this morning.”

As usual, Joey and Rory’s fans were eager to comment on the heartwarming photo, calling both Hopie and Indy “beautiful girls.”

“Hope u had a great breakfast with those beautiful girls. Prayers for Joey,” one Facebook user wrote, while another added: “Enjoy your breakfast with your beautiful girls. Sweet Indy looks so Precious. Best wishes for a wonderful Christmas for you and your family.”

On Tuesday, Rory shared a sweet photo of Indiana splashing away in the bathtub. In the collage of photos, Indiana is seen attempting to wash her hair while trying hard not to get soap in her eyes. Rory captioned the photo by saying: “..Indy’s first time to wash her own hair.”
