Lamar Odom Will Spend Christmas With His Children, Will Be Relocated To A Rehab Center ‘Any Day Now’

Lamar Odom will reportedly get a special visit from his family on Christmas. Next week, as the former professional athlete spends yet another holiday at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in West Hollywood, California, a source has revealed his children’s plan to fly to Los Angeles and spend Christmas with their dad.

“[Lamar Odom] has fought to get better mostly for them,” a source told Us Weekly on December 17.

After he was discovered unconscious on October 13 at a legal brothel in Nevada, Lamar Odom was taken to a hospital in Las Vegas. The following day, his two children, Destiny and Lamar Odom Jr., arrived in town with their mother, Liza Morales. Lamar Odom dated Morales for several years before marrying his wife, Khloe Kardashian, in 2009.

In addition to their two oldest children, Lamar Odom and Morales also welcomed a third child, Jayden, during their years-long relationship. Sadly, Jayden passed away at just 6-months-old due to SIDS (sudden infant death syndrome). Earlier this week, Morales honored the boy on social media. As Us Weekly revealed at the time, Lamar Odom’s ex celebrated Jayden’s would-be 10th birthday on December 15.

On Twitter, Morales wrote, “Happy 10th Birthday to our Guardian Angel, our beloved son, Jayden, #BirthdayInHeaven.”

During a 2012 interview, Morales opened up about her loss.

“The loss was traumatic for both of us. We just dealt with it in different ways. I had to depend on my spirituality… [Lamar Odom] turned to work. He had his music he was working on, a clothing company and an artist he was working with — that’s how he dealt. I was alone during that time, but at least I had my family and friends.”

Following Lamar Odom’s romance with Morales, he engaged in a whirlwind romance with Kardashian, which lasted until 2013, when Kardashian filed for divorce amid rumors of affairs and drug use. Still, because the two had yet to finalize their paperwork, Kardashian remains his wife. In fact, when Lamar Odom was hospitalized, she immediately flew to his side, where she was put in charge of making his medical decisions.

Although Lamar Odom’s two children remained at the Sunrise Hospital for a few days after his hospitalization, they eventually flew back to New York City, where they are currently enrolled in school. Since then, it has been Kardashian and her family, including sisters Kim and Kourtney and her mother, Kris Jenner, who have offered him support.

Lamar Odom’s aunt was also seen at the Sunrise Hospital.

Since Lamar Odom’s hospitalization over two months ago, he has made major strides. According to Us Weekly’s source, he will soon be released from the hospital and move onto a new facility, where he will begin rehabilitation.

“[Lamar Odom] is supposed to be moved to the rehab center any day now. He’s actually making progress every day,” the magazine source explained.

While Us Weekly claims Lamar Odom continues to make good progress, other outlets have said otherwise. Most recently, as seen above, People Magazine claimed the former Los Angeles Laker continued to face “many challenges” two months after suffering a drug overdose.

Lamar Odom’s brain was “severely oxygen-deprived” after the overdose and resulting strokes, according to the People’s source, which has reportedly led to memory loss and confusion.

Lamar Odom “has acquired an oral motor speech disorder,” the site explained, adding that the disorder “makes it difficult for him to express himself verbally.”

While spontaneous speech recovery is a future possibility for Lamar Odom, it’s hard to say what will happen as his recovery continues.

In addition to Lamar Odom’s speech struggles, he is also struggling to walk.
