Enrique Marquez arrested

Gun Buyer Arrested: Enrique Marquez, San Bernardino Shooters’ Friend Arrested

Enrique Marquez has been arrested by federal agents on weapons charges related to the San Bernardino shootings. Marquez was a neighbor, friend, and relative to the ISIS-inspired terrorist who killed 14 people at the Inland Regional Center. After Syed Farook and Tashfeen Malik opened fire on the Christmas party, Marquez checked himself into a mental health facility. The friend of the radicalized shooters allegedly bought the semi-automatic rifles used during the terror attack.

Enrique Marquez, 24, became a central figure in the San Bernardino shootings investigation by the Feds almost immediately after the horrific ISIS attack occurred. He was questioned for several days by members of the terrorism joint task force, according to MSN.

Syed Farook and Marquez are believed to have planned some type of terrorism attack in 2012 but ultimately, for some unknown reason, changed their minds. Enrique was described as shy at first, but very jovial once you got to know him, by his classmates at a local community college. He may have been planning on joining the Navy once he completed his courses.

Enrique Marquez Arrested

Enrique Marquez was employed at least part-time at a San Bernardino-area Walmart store. He was married to a woman described by some as a “mail order bride” from Russia. His wife’s sister is married to Syed Farook’s older brother.

Marquez purchased the two AR-15 semi-automatic rifles used in the San Bernardino shootings legally, but there is reportedly no record of him transferring ownership to the radicalized ISIS shooters. Although the extremely popular rifles are often referred to as “assault weapons” or “assault rifles” by some news media outlets, there is really no definition for the term. AR-15 rifles are not military grade rifles, as they do not fire automatically. According to a KTLA 5 News about the Enrique Marquez arrest, the relative of Syed Farook is claiming that he had no prior knowledge of the terror attack.

While Marquez told federal agents that he bought the AR-15 semi-automatic rifles two years ago, it is not known if he volunteered information about loaning them to Farook and Malik. He reportedly waived his Miranda rights and is cooperating with FBI investigators.

Feds Raid Enrique Marquez Home

The full nature of the current and possible future charges to be levied against Marquez are not yet known. Should the friend and relative of Syed Farook be charged and convicted with conspiracy to commit murder or terrorism, he could spend the rest of his life in prison.

Tashfeen Malik pledged her allegiance to ISIS on social media shortly before the terroristic mass shooting in San Bernardino. The vetting process used to review Malik’s background before she was granted the K-1 fiance visa has become a heated debated topic on the presidential campaign trail. She was not subjected to an in-person interview, gave a false address on her visa application, and her social media accounts, where radical Islamic comments reportedly appeared, also went unchecked.

After Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump said that he favored a temporary ban of all non-American Muslims from entering the country until lawmakers could get a better handle on the ISIS terrorism crisis and the vetting process, massive backlash occurred — and his poll numbers jumped. During testimony to Congress, FBI Director James Comey admitted that under the current vetting process, the federal agency could not guarantee that all immigrants, students, visitors, or Syrian refugees did not have radicalized views or unidentifiable ties to terrorist groups, the Washington Post reports.

Earlier this week, both Syed Malik and Tashfeen Malik were buried quietly during an Islamic graveside ceremony that was guarded by FBI agents. President Barack Obama is reportedly slated to travel to San Bernardino tomorrow to meet with the victims of the ISIS terror attack.
