Johnny Manziel Signs Money For Fan, Cashes In Chance To Start

Johnny Manziel was money both on and off the field Sunday for the Cleveland Browns.

Before the start of the Browns game against the San Francisco 49ers, “Money” Manziel signed a fan’s $100 bill, ESPN reported. Then, Johnny cashed in his first starting opportunity in four weeks with a solid performance and a win for the Cleveland Browns.

Johnny has often been associated with money in the past, going by the moniker “Money Manziel.” Fans of the Cleveland Browns were told by Manziel that the “money” symbols Johnny used in celebratory fashion were going away before the start of the season, the NFL Network reported in June.

Johnny had expressed remorse prior to the season about how his on-the-field antics and off-the-field indiscretions were constant problems Manziel and his teammates dealt with during his rookie season.

“The money sign will not be back. I was a little bit of a distraction. I feel bad about that today. I feel bad about that throughout the last months of my life, really thinking back and seeing how much of my life outside of this field and outside of this locker room is documented.”

Signs Manziel was bringing back the “money” symbol first emerged this week when Johnny posted a picture on Twitter for his 23rd birthday. Was it a momentary lapse or a special moment for Manziel on his birthday? Only time will tell.

The man who received the $100 bill signed by Johnny – Wheelersburg, Ohio native Kyle Horner – was ecstatic the quarterback autographed his money. A friend who also attended the game posted a picture of Horner and himself giving the “money” symbol Manziel often used after scoring touchdowns for Texas A&M prior to joining the Cleveland Browns.

For the game, Johnny torched the 49ers defense for 270 yards on a 21-of-31 passing performance. After throwing a first-half interception – and banging a tablet on his head – Manziel shook off the rust of a two-game absence. The quarterback’s passes were on the money most of the game, however, throwing a touchdown pass in the third quarter to Tight End Gary Barnidge in the third quarter.

Isaiah Crowell was the star on the day, however. for the Cleveland Browns. The running back rushed 20 times for 145 yards and two scores in the win.

While Johnny expressed remorse prior to the season for his distractions, the signal caller hasn’t stopped creating them this year. Manziel had a public dust-up with his girlfriend on the side of the road in October, which ultimately led to no punishment from either his team or the NFL. The police report detailed how alcohol may have been involved, an issue that sent Manziel to rehab earlier this year.

Johnny was later videotaped during the team’s bye week consuming alcohol despite telling his coaches prior the incident he would not be a distraction. As a result, Cleveland Browns coach Mike Pettine decided to bench Johnny, making him the third-string option for two games.

Questions entering the game for Manziel focused less on money and more as to whether he would be in Cleveland after this season. An Inquisitr report focused on one of his coach’s comment suggesting Johnny would make it in the NFL, but as to whether it would be with the Browns was the question. If the Cleveland Browns decide to move him in the off-season, suitors have emerged for the talented player, such as the Dallas Cowboys and San Francisco 49ers.
