Prince George Helps Mom Kate Middleton Shop For Christmas Tree Decorations

This Christmas Prince George won’t be the only child in the Cambridges’ household. In the spring, he became big brother to Princess Charlotte, and it will be her first holiday season. Prince George’s dad, Prince William, told a UK magazine that George has just learned what Christmas is all about, and said it will be tough to contain the toddler’s enthusiasm, as Us Weekly reported.

“George will be bouncing around like a rabbit. If I get any sleep on Christmas Eve, it’ll be good.”

Now Us has learned that the pint-sized royal is helping his mom, Duchess Catherine, choose decorations for the tree. George joined his parents in a tree-decorating session on December 5. It followed a shopping trip taken by George and Kate about two weeks earlier near their Norfolk home. An insider said George was excited by the selection of tree trimmings.

“George wanted everything he saw. Kate let him choose a couple of ornaments, including a felt penguin.”

Perhaps Prince George’s love of Christmas trees isn’t surprising, as his grandfather Prince Charles also revealed his grandson loves nature.

“He’s one of those characters, I think, who naturally, instinctively, likes to be outside. It’s very interesting. I’m intrigued to see if it lasts, but he loves being outside, which is encouraging.”

Prince George’s father, William, and uncle, Prince Harry, have brought their influence to bear on issues of nature preservation, specifically global wildlife conservation.

But the Christmas shopping was just the beginning of the holiday season for the royals. Kate Middleton was seen shopping in London’s Chelsea neighborhood on Friday, December 11. She was checking out the selection at Peter Jones, a large retail department store.

The Daily Mail reported that the Cambridges will attend Christmas church services with the Queen and the rest of the royal family. They will later have a dinner with Duchess Catherine’s family, the Middletons, back at Norfolk.

This week Duchess Catherine attended charity functions, including the ICAP Charity Day where, as USA Today reported, she took calls at the stock brokerage and played table tennis with her husband. The following day, December 10, she was spotting wearing a stunning tiara to an event.

As E! reported, the tiara was made ever the more special because it was gifted to Prince George’s grandmother, Diana, Princess of Wales, by the Queen on Diana’s wedding to Prince Charles. The tiara had not been seen in public since 1997, the year Diana passed away in an automobile accident.

William and Kate named their second child Princess Charlotte Elizabeth Diana, to honor William’s father, grandmother and mother. The Duchess has been her children’s personal photographer, releasing two pictures of Princess Charlotte in early November on the occasion of her 6-month birthday. Shortly after Prince George’s birth in 2013 the royals released a family photo with their beloved dog.

Prince William revealed he’s looking forward to a traditional holiday season with his young family. Seeing Prince George’s excitement and anticipating some cold holiday weather are at the top of the Prince’s list.

“We’ll watch George try to tackle his presents as he tries to unwrap them. It’s a very different experience at Christmas, having a family of your own. It’d be nice if we got a white Christmas because we haven’t had one in many years.”
