This is what a plane crash looks like in HD

The widespread uptake in HD camcorders has meant that the odds of a HD camera being on the scene of most things has never been more likely. Add plane crash to that list.

This HD video shows a deHavilland Beaver plane crashing at Lake Hood in Anchorage, Alaska on June 7, 2009. According to the guy who captured it:

My father and I were videotaping planes at Lake Hood taking off and landing when the wind kicked up and sent the Beaver taking off right at us. The wing was less than 5 feet over our heads, and the radial engine was less than 8 feet to my left. No exaggeration!! The Slow motion at the end gives a little better look at how close it was. Everyone onboard was in pristine condition, 2 adults, 2 children and 2 dogs

The emphasis is mine, but it’s the key part. Not only did he capture the plane crashing, the plane very nearly took him out as well. Video as follows.
