Ryan Adams & Mandy Moore Divorce: Proceedings Turn Ugly As Adams Allegedly Refuses To Offer Support For Couple’s Pets

Ryan Adams is throwing a wrench in divorce proceedings with estranged wife Mandy Moore, with court documents showing the 41-year-old singer is refusing to pay support or help out with the couple’s eight pets.

Mandy Moore filed for divorce back in January, but recently petitioned the court claiming that Ryan isn’t paying spousal support and not helping take care of their six cats and two dogs. The document, obtained by TMZ, claimed that Adams was making $151,000 a month while Mandy was taking in less than $40,000 per month.

“Now Mandy wants Ryan to pay her $37k per month until they sort out the divorce terms — and she’s insisting he take 4 of the pets immediately,” the report noted.

Ryan Adams has been paying half of the mortgage, property taxes, and insurance on the couple’s home, but Moore told the court that she doesn’t make enough to cover the rest of the expenses.

“I feel as if I have no alternative,” she told the court.

Mandy Moore added that she is unable to take care of the couple’s pets on her own, adding that it’s caused her to miss time working.

“Although I love our pets, it is overwhelming for me to take care of eight of them all of the time,” Moore wrote, saying she had to “cancel a prior work engagement because my housekeeper was ill and unable to stay with our pets while I traveled for work… Without Ryan’s help caring for the house and our pets, I have not been able to work as much as I would like.”

There has already been plenty of drama between Ryan Adams and Mandy Moore after they announced their split early this year. Shortly after the breakup went public, Mandy Moore took to Instagram to vent her frustrations.

Moore posted a photo of two traffic signs, one reading “Mercury Retrograde” and another sign reading “Proceed With Caution.” Mercury retrograde is a term referring to retrograde motion of the planetary system, interpreted by many to be a reference to Moore’s relationship failings.

Until that point the couple had maintained the image of an amicable split, releasing a public statement saying that the decision to end the marriage was mutual.

“Mandy Moore and Ryan Adams have mutually decided to end their marriage of almost six years,” the statement read. “It is a respectful, amicable parting of ways and both Mandy and Ryan are asking for media to respect their privacy at this time.”

A report from People magazine claimed that those close to Ryan Adams and Mandy Moore had no idea there were problems. A source told the outlet that they appeared to be in good spirits when they celebrated their five-year anniversary.

But Ryan Adams showed some signs of strain in the marriage, even hanging up on a journalist who asked a question about the relationship.

He later explained that his personal life is off limits.

“Okay, so I just hung up because I was on the radio getting asked about my wife,” he later told Buzzfeed. “I was really nice about it the first time, and I’m sorry, but I won’t repeat myself. The deal is this: I’m a private person and I’ll be a gentleman and say I’m not talking about my marriage ever. I’ll never talk about it. Ever.”

While Mandy Moore and Ryan Adams may have failed in their relationship, both are busy in their work. Moore has a role in the upcoming movie 47 Meters Down, and Adams released a high-acclaimed, track-by-track cover of Taylor Swift’s album 1989.
