‘Scream Queens’ Star Emma Roberts Returns For ‘AHS’ Season 6? Understands Why Aunt Julia Roberts Will Not Appear

Fans of American Horror will be excited to learn that Emma Roberts is set to make a return to the hit horror series in the next season. Although Roberts was not featured in American Horror Story: Hotel because of a conflict of scheduling, the Scream Queens star recently told E! Online that she is thrilled to make a return the horror drama.

“I hope so, if they’ll have me,” Roberts said in regards to reprising her role in the new season. “I’m always ready to do American Horror Story. It’s always a wild time on that show so I would love to be back.”

Roberts has been a staple on the show since its very beginning, and her absence this past season was the first time she hasn’t made an appearance in the anthology series. Luckily, Roberts will be making a return for the next season, the details of which have yet to be revealed by Ryan Murphy and company.

While Emma Roberts is certainly excited at the chance to be a part of American Horror Story once again, her aunt and award winning actress, Julia Roberts, does not exactly share her niece’s enjoyment of the horror genre.

In fact, according to Perez Hilton, Julia recently shared the main reason why she could never make an appearance on American Horror Story, even though her own niece is a part of it.

“I’ll tell you why—because I can’t even get through the commercials,” the Secret in Their Eyes star explained. “I am the most fitful scaredy cat. When the first American Horror Story came out, remember the first poster? I said to [show co-creator Ryan Murphy], ‘OK, I curse you. I stop at a traffic light and I have to look at that thing on billboards. It gives me the willies. What is that? What is going on? What have you done?’ ”

For those that are not aware, Julia and Murphy are actually really good friends, and have been for quite some time. Their friendship dates back to Julia’s part in Eat Pray Love in 2010, which Murphy directed. Since then, the two have worked together on HBO’s The Normal Heart, and have remained in contact.

Despite her unwillingness to appear in the horror series, Julia went on to state that she still supports her niece in everything she does. “I try to support my Emma, but I don’t like it,” she added.

For her part, Roberts revealed that she understands exactly why her aunt wants no part of American Horror Story. “I don’t blame her,” Roberts stated in the interview.

In fact, Roberts went on to relate a story about she was once scared while watching the show alone in a hotel. Apparently, the actress was so frightened that she had to turn off the series and kept the lights on throughout the night.

“I was watching American Horror Story: Hotel on my computer and I realized that I was staying in a hotel and I literally turned it off so fast and turned all the lights on and went to sleep with all the lights on,” Roberts explained. “I was like, ‘I don’t even care that I know these people—I’m terrified.’ ”

The current season of American Horror Story continues to air Wednesday nights on FX. While Roberts’ current role in Murphy’s other horror related series, Scream Queens, is now over, fans will be able to see her appear in the next season of American Horror Story, which is expected to air sometime in 2016.

At this time, the time and setting of the new season of AHS has yet to be revealed. That being said, Emma Roberts’ involvement in the new season is sure to get fans excited for whatever direction Murphy decides to take the series.
