‘Sons Of Anarchy’ Star Ron Perlman To Join The Justice League?

New developments have been pouring in about the upcoming film Justice League Dark. According to Movie Pilot, the newest rumors center on the possibility that former Sons of Anarchy star Ron Perlman is being heavily considered for the role of Swamp Thing. With that in mind, Twitter user BossLogic put together an artistic rendition of how Perlman might look as the iconic character.

The image features a look at Perlman in his Sons of Anarchy cut with Swamp Thing looking on in the background. Although the image is unofficial, it does offer a great look at how Swamp Thing might appear in the film.

Justice League Dark is currently under development by Warner Bros., which is planning on releasing the movie at some point after the premiere of the Justice League movies. Together, the movies are set to become a part of the larger DC Extended Universe that was kicked off with the release of Man of Steel.

While the New 52 Justice League is well known by fans — and includes the likes of Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Green Lantern, Superman, the Flash, and Cyborg — Justice League Dark is a lesser known version that features characters that tend to receive less attention. This does not mean that they aren’t heroes, but this group does tend to be more supernatural and erratic than their counterparts in the Justice League.

At this time, it is not known which heroes will be included in Justice League Dark, but there are a few that are a given. This includes John Constantine, Madame Xanadu, Deadman, Zatanna, and Swamp Thing.

Meanwhile, Ron Perlman’s involvement in the film is interesting, especially considering his close ties with director Guillermo del Toro, who has been working on developing the script for the movie for quite some time now. In fact, Del Toro and Perlman worked together in both Hellboy and Hellboy II: The Golden Army.

The close relationship Perlman shares with del Toro is thought to be one reason why Perlman is being considered for the role in Justice League Dark. Even though, as Comic Book has pointed out, del Toro is no longer set to direct the movie, he is still apparently backing Perlman for the role as Swamp Thing.

Del Toro was supposed to begin work on the movie following the end of his latest project, Crimson Peak. However, after Warner Bros. made some significant moves internally, del Toro’s involvement in the movie was cut short. Even still, the acclaimed director did manage to finish the script back in 2014.

That being said, another reason why Perlman would be a perfect fit for the part is because of his past experiences. After all, there aren’t many actors out there who would be able to pull off playing a character like Swamp Thing, who is not really human or plant, but somewhere in between (like Perlman’s Hellboy).

Additionally, Perlman is definitely comfortable in acting with prosthetics and heavy makeup. Although Hellboy is an example of this, the actor also underwent a similar transition in his role in the television series Beauty and the Beast. Both of these roles should give Perlman an upper hand in landing the part. Now, whether or not Perlman is actually interested in playing the character is another matter altogether.

In the end, an official casting announcement has yet to be made. With the movie still in the early stages of development, it is unclear when casting for the main parts will begin.

Hopefully, fans will be given the opportunity to see Perlman in another role as a formidable, human-like creature. If the art of Perlman as Swamp Thing is anything to go by, then he would certainly be a great fit for the job.
