Chris Carney Fatal Crash: Tiffany Thornton’s Husband Was So Drunk Before Crash That He Couldn’t Stand, Source Claims
Chris Carney may have been drinking heavily before his fatal crash, a new report about the husband of Disney actress Tiffany Thornton reveals.
The accident took place on Friday in Arkansas. Police said Carney’s car veered off the road and hit a tree. The couple left behind two children — 3-year-old KJ and 21-month-old Bentley.
Now, a report from TMZ claims that the 35-year-old Carney was drinking so heavily before the crash that he had trouble standing up. Sources told the site that he was drinking Fireball Whiskey and Vegas Bombs, and that he then got behind the wheel of his car.
The source claimed that Chris Carney had struggled with alcohol over the years, but that family members believed he had been sober for around a year.
As details on Chris Carney’s fatal crash continue to emerge, Tiffany Thornton took to Instagram to share a long and heartfelt message for her late husband. It was Thornton who first broke the news of Carney’s fatal crash, and after a few days, she opened up about his life and how he was growing deeper in his faith.
“There are so many things I want you to know about Chris but most importantly you must know how earnestly he pursued the Lord, especially in the past year. No one is perfect in this world and we all have our battles but it’s the way we get back on our feet and turn it around that really counts. And he did it. He was so on fire for God and I know he flew straight into the arms of Jesus, his best friend,” she wrote. “Please if you’re reading this know that Chris would want you to know the Lord. Don’t wait to run back to God. Our days are numbered and God is just waiting for you to come back to him. There is so much power in the redemption God gives us and I am so grateful that Chris and I got to fall in love all over again this past year.”
Tiffany Thornton added that Carney had recently gone on a mission trip to Peru where he “shared his beautiful testimony” and helped others become Christians. He was also writing and directing a Christian film, one that also starred Thornton.

Thornton added that “no one is perfect in this world and we all have our battles,” but said turning to God helped Carney get back on his feet. She oped others reading the message could learn from Carney’s final year and the strength he found in his faith.

Tiffany Thornton is best known for appearing on the Disney Channel show, Sonny With A Chance. The 29-year-old Thornton had take a step away from the spotlight, but remained close with some of her co-stars. Actress Demi Lovato, who was a bridesmaid at Thornton’s wedding to Carney, shared her condolences on Saturday.
“I’m still in shock and I can’t believe I’m writing this but #RIPChrisCarney,” she wrote. “You’re already missed. We love you.”
Chris Carney and Tiffany Thornton had an up and down relationship, the Daily Mail noted. The two had broken up within the last year, but had reconciled and moved back to Carney’s home town.
Despite the rumors of heavy drinking, police have not yet released a final report on the car crash that killed Chris Carney.
