Sandra Bullock Shares Bedtime Routine With Children Louis And Laila

Sandra Bullock recently revealed that she had adopted her 3-year-old foster daughter, Laila, and she is now sharing how she, Laila, and her 5-year-old son, Louis, are adjusting to their new life.

Sandra’s life with two children is a bit hectic. Chasing around two kids, and two puppies, all day isn’t easy, but Sandra said she wouldn’t have it any other way.

At night, Bullock said she finds herself “asleep by 8:45 p.m. But I’m up by 5:45 a.m., so there’s that. That’s what makes me happy — having so much love.”

Prior to heading off to bed, however, Sandra and her children have a bedtime routine they follow every night. After she tucks Laila and Louis into their beds, Sandra reads aloud The Family Book, by Todd Parr, which is a colorful story that celebrates diversity.

“The Family Book celebrates the love we feel for our families and all the different varieties they come in. Whether you have two moms or two dads, a big family or a small family, a clean family or a messy one, Todd Parr assures readers that no matter what kind of family you have, every family is special in its own unique way.”

“Everyone will find their family represented there!” Bullock told People Magazine during an exclusive interview, adding that Laila and Louis share a room.

“It’s pretty amazing to just sit in bed and listen to them on the monitor, how they interact and take care of each other,” she said. “The most peaceful time of day is when I know for a fact that both of them are successfully asleep, and I can leave their room knowing we have another day under our belt.”

Last week, Sandra announced that she had adopted Laila after a lengthy, three-year process. Since she started fostering Laila, who was from Louisiana like her brother, Sandra has been fiercely protective, making sure to keep her daughter’s identity under wraps.

“It was very much like witness protection,” Bullock said of the adoption process, explaining that because Laila was in foster care, she was required to keep her identity a secret.

Although she tried every way possible to protect her daughter, it wasn’t always easy. In September, Bullock had to rush Laila to the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. Little did Sandra know, she and Laila were being followed by the paparazzi, who were quickly snapping photos of the pair. The photographers later released the photos in October.

“Unbeknownst to me, a photographer had followed us and taken a photo of us in line,” Bullock said. “The next day, I learned that a photo of her was being shopped around for sale to every outlet around the world. I had promised and legally agreed to protect her from something like this, and here I was chasing down lawyers — having them begging them to keep her safe.”

Even though it was a long, hard process, Sandra said she couldn’t be happier with the way her life is now, and having her two kids to share it with.

“When I look at Laila, there’s no doubt in my mind that she was supposed to be here,” she said. “I can tell you absolutely, the exact right children came to me at the exact right time.”

As the Inquisitr previously reported, Sandra Bullock is currently dating photographer Bryan Randall, whom she met when he photographed Louis’ fifth birthday party in January. The couple officially started dating in June, and although they appear to be very happy together, Sandra admitted that she will probably never marry again.

“I don’t think so, but I can see myself in a committed, safe relationship where there is lots of love and laughter, and ‘making memories’ is No. 1 on the to-do list,” she said.
