Taylor Swift Politely Asks Australian Press To Back Off

Taylor Swift has been known for her generosity for quite some time. She has helped fans more than once. The most recent incident was when she had a young fan, Jorja, to her Sydney concert and met her backstage for a photo op. Jorja is going deaf and wanted to hear Swift in concert before she lost her hearing.

Now she is giving her inner circle, which consists of her crew of 125 people and her family, a little rest and relaxation time on the tropical Hamilton Island off the coast of Australia. People reports that Swift posted a photo of her entire crew on Instagram with a caption of how excited she is about the vacation plans

“So stoked to be able to take my band and crew on a vacation at the end of a long and wonderful tour. For all their hard work this year, they really deserve it. Thank you to Hamilton Island for taking such great care of 125 of the people who work tirelessly to make sure the 1989 World Tour stage gets built, the lights are on, the costumes are made, the guitars are tuned, and the show goes on.”

In the same Instagram post, Taylor Swift told the Australian press to back off, but she said it in a nice way.

“Aussie press, I love your enthusiasm but my birthday isn’t for 2 weeks and it’ll be a quiet one this year. Let’s take it down a notch.”

The Sydney Morning Herald reports that this warning came after Michelle Tapper, a reporter from Australian breakfast television show Sunrise, tried to film Swift on Hamilton Island and was then made to leave the island. Tapper spoke of a media ban on the island.

“There is a complete media ban on the island and Taylor Swift has asked for privacy. I have never heard anything like it in almost 20 years of journalism.”

If Taylor Swift is having a birthday soon and it’s going to be a quiet one, then what does she have planned for the big day? She is turning 26-years-old on December 13 and Bazaar reports that since she is already on Hamilton Island with her crew and some family, she is flying her whole girl squad to join them. Then they can party, party, party. Along with her girlfriends, her boyfriend, Calvin Harris, and Ed Sheeran will attend, and Swift is even inviting Oprah Winfrey and Hugh Jackman.

A big island vacation with close to 150 people isn’t exactly “keeping it quiet this year,” but Taylor Swift’s fans admit that they can understand her desire for privacy. It’s true she had a big birthday bash last year when she turned 25. Here is the Instagram photo to prove it.

Bazaar reported that she celebrated right after she performed at Z100’s Jingle Ball held at Madison Square Garden. Attending the party were celebs like her BFF Karlie Kloss, Beyoncé, Justin Timberlake, Sam Smith, and Jay Z.

But before her big party, Taylor Swift has more concerts on her to-do list. The Sydney Morning Herald reports that she will hold an exclusive concert for 40 fans on the island. Then she will play in Brisbane on Saturday night. Her final concert in Melbourne will be December 12, the day before her birthday, and after that she will go back to Hamilton Island for her big birthday celebration.

It certainly sounds like a very busy schedule, but she is spending her time between her devoted fans and her closest friends and family. Who could possibly ask for more? Happy Birthday, Taylor Swift!
