Anna Nordqvist wins LPGA Championship

Anna Nordqvist held off Australian Lindsey Wright to win the LPGA Championship at Bulle Rock Sunday (June 14.)

The 22 year old Swede in only her 5th start on the LPGA tour, delivered a four under 68 in the final round for a total of 15 under 273 for the tournament. Ranked 214th in the world, Nordqvist won last year’s British Amateur title, and was competing in her first major as a professional at this event.

Nordqvist was surprised by the win, saying when asked for a comment after winning: “I’m speechless. I don’t know what to say.” Asked for comment later, she said that “Obviously, it’s a great feeling…I think it’s going to take a couple days to realize that I actually won.”
