Mom Accused Of Beating Tot To Death For Outrageous Reason

A Chicago mom is accused of beating a 2-year-old girl to death, and the reason why is just heartbreaking. Fox 2 News reports that 18-year-old Jazmine Jones has been arrested and charged in the death of the 2-year-old child, stemming from an incident that allegedly took place on November 28.

Authorities say that the 18-year-old mother repeatedly punched 2-year-old Elliana Claiborne on November 28 because the child was not “eating her noodles.” The alleged beating took place in the home of Jazmine Jones’s boyfriend, but no reports are indicating whether the unidentified man is facing any charges, nor have authorities accused him of any involvement. Authorities say that after Jones violently beat the 2-year-old tot, she put her to bed. The following morning, Claiborne was found unresponsive in her bed.

The Chicago mom has been slapped with child endangerment charges associated with the violent death of the 2-year-old toddler. However, it is not known at this time if the charge of murder will be tacked on to the list. The 18-year-old mom is being held in jail on bond in the amount of $1 Million.

ABC 7 Eyewitness News reports that the boyfriend of the Chicago mom appears to be cooperating with the investigation. The young man told authorities a heartbreaking story detailing the hours leading up to Elliana’s death. The man, who has not been named in reports, performed CPR on the toddler when it was discovered that something wasn’t right. He also said that he was in another room playing video games when Jazmine Jones violently beat the child for refusing to eat noodles.

The boyfriend told authorities that he didn’t realize anything was wrong with the 2-year-old baby until it was too late. In fact, it was his sister who realized there was a problem when she tried to change her diaper the morning following the alleged beating. She reportedly “smelled of feces” and was cold to the touch. Her body was reportedly stiff, but her eyes were opened. That is when the Chicago mom’s boyfriend attempted CPR on the 2-year-old, who was evidently already dead. He said that a yellowish liquid came from her mouth after his attempt to resuscitate her.

Officials at St. Bernard Hospital said she was dead on arrival. Her body temperature at the time of arrival was approximately 84 degrees, and she had already entered the stage of rigor mortis. A post-mortem exam of the toddler’s body found that she had suffered numerous injuries to her body. She had bruises on her head, face, back, abdomen, and arms. She also had healing burns on one of her feet, various healed scars, and at least two fractured ribs. Ultimately, she died by blunt force trauma. In particular, blows to her abdomen caused her death.

Social media has also gotten a hold of this tragic case of alleged child abuse, and the comments don’t appear to be in support of the young mom. In fact, a great amount of anger has been expressed by at least one person on Twitter regarding the tragic death of little Elliana. Meanwhile, Jazmine Jones remains jailed, and it’s not known at this time if she will be able to come up with the large sum of money to bond herself out.
