Watch As New Batman V Superman Trailer Reveals What Unites The Heroes And Catch Wonder Woman’s Epic Intro

The second trailer for 2016’s Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice has been under wraps for many agonizing months, but fans have finally been put out of their misery when the new trailer was revealed during Jimmy Kimmel Live on December 2, and it is well worth the wait! Without any further delay, check out the three-minute long trailer below.

Monday’s teaser with Superman unmasking a strung up Batman had imaginations and speculations going a mile a minute as anticipation mounted. The film’s debut is just around the corner and Cinema Blend argues that since those other big screen hero films like Captain America and even the latest instalment of Star Wars, have gotten their trailers out of the way it was time for the DC Comics boys to start their throw down.

Zack Snyder’s new film may have wrapped production months ago, but its easy to guess why Warner Bros. waited until now to begin their campaign to hype up the already anticipated movie. They have been giving a steady infusion of life by dropping little tidbits here and there for a while now. The San Diego Comic-Con saw the first trailer release and made the connection between Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice and Synder’s previous Superman film Man of Steel. Monday night’s Gotham gave that previously mentioned 60-second tease of a scene between Batman (Ben Affleck) and a very angry looking Superman (Henry Cavill). This, trailer though gives so much more, and the introduction to the movie’s true villain as well as its other super hero(ine) is flawless.

The reveal of Zack Snyder’s version of the classic DC villain Doomsday may throw some fans who thought that he should have been saved for a later film, but it seems Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice will be coming out with all pistons firing. Rumors that it would be Lex Luthor who uses DNA from the Kryptonian General Zod to create the monster have borne fruit. It is a monster so strong that it forces Batman and Superman to cease their own fight against each other and join forces to bring him down. Wired writes that the clash of the two heroes is a fight Luthor wanted desperately to bring about, anticipating it with the glee of a fandom.

“The greatest gladiator match in the history of the world: Son of Krypton versus Bat of Gotham!”

Wonder Woman also makes a stellar entrance as she seemingly saves both heroes from a particularly nasty blast from Doomsday.

The trailer also finds delves into the reason why the two heroes are at odds in the first place. In Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, the world turns on Superman after he fails to prevent the chaos and destruction that rained when he fought his fellow Kryptonians in Man of Steel. Bruce Wayne, in his belief that no man should have such power unchecked, begins to investigate the threat that this alien could present to the world and does so under the guise of The Batman. The boy scout that Clark Kent is though leads him believe that the vigilante ways of Batman makes him the dangerous one. The threat that Lex Luthor (Jesse Eisenberg, who is sure to catch flak for his slightly old school jokester portrayal of Luthor) presents with his unleash of Doomsday ultimately unites the the two and brings Wonder Woman all the way from the island of Themyscira, though it is still unclear how much of her background we will be privy to in the new movie.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is only the beginning for the DC Cinematic Universe, and a series of solo movies for many DC heroes are expected to start rolling out soon. David Ayer’s Suicide Squad will be the first to follow Batman V Superman and premiere later in 2016. That team of super-villains will comprise of Deadshot (Will Smith), The Joker (Jared Leto), Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie) and many other equally ferocious villains as they pick up the pieces following the battles in Dawn of Justice. From there, DC heroes like Wonder Woman, Aquaman and The Flash are scheduled to start getting their own solo films.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is scheduled to premiere in theaters on March 25, 2016.
