Drake Is Rooting For Justin Bieber And Selena Gomez To Get Back Together

Selena Gomez made a surprise appearance on Justin Bieber’s Instagram on Tuesday. So did Drake. So did lots and lots of hot-under-the-collar fans.

So, what else is new? Certainly not the photo the Biebs shared of himself and his former girlfriend Selena Gomez from back in their Jelena days.

The pic shows Justin and Selena on a stationary red ATV. The time and place was August, 2014, when the pair visited the Biebs’ native Ontario, Canada, during a romantic vacation, during which they were stalked by paparazzi and the heartthrob ended up getting arrested after a collision and supposed scuffle.

As of today, there are over 1.6 million comments next to the photo. Some fans waxed happily about the return of Jelena. Others did not. On Twitter, some Justin Bieber fans seem to be of the opinion that the “Sorry” superstar was just bored (as he captioned one snap) before sharing the Selena pic, while others griped that he was seeking attention.

Justin later added a pacifying caption to his Selena post. “Just a throwback calm down,” he wrote.

Either way, Bieber and Gomez made the headlines today. But, there is at least one celebrity who appears enthralled by the soap opera that is Jelena. Fellow Canadian Drake took to Instagram during yesterday’s ensuing brouhaha and left a comment at Justin’s Instagram.

“Damn thought this was a Jelena current say flick,” Drake quipped, adding a Canadian flag and a sad face emoji.

Bieber also shared a slew of hair selfies last night, noting “Haircut need,” by the shot below.

The seemingly lovesick 21-year old’s Instagram spree included a video of him strumming a guitar by an outside fire, numerous throwback snaps, hockey game photos, and shots with Jay Z and The Weeknd.

Back to the saga of Justin and Selena. The Biebs’ throwback Instagram comes just two weeks after he serenaded “The Heart Wants It Wants” songstress with a rendition of “My Girl” in the bar of the Beverly Hills Montage hotel.

An onlooker, who turned out to be photographer Lindsey Cavanaugh, later posted video, pics, and spoke to the media about her experience.

Despite Cavanaugh’s recollections that the pair seemed delighted to see each other, and footage of them hugging before taking a tactile stroll around Beverly Hills, People magazine claimed a source said the ex-couple “were friendly at the [hotel] bar but they didn’t act like a couple.”

The insider apparently added, “Justin was in a great mood and serenaded her. She was still a bit pouty and playing hard to get.”

However, many fans and a fair few outlets weren’t convinced. Check out the clips for yourselves, which are compiled from Cavanaugh’s and another bystander’s social media accounts.

Although Justin and Selena’s on-again, off-again, four-year romantic relationship ended last September amid rumors, the first loves spoke supportively about each other in multiple interviews while promoting their respective new albums, Revival and Purpose.

“I’m never going to stop loving her,” Bieber told Access Hollywood last month. “I’m never going to stop checking in on her.”

“We always respected each other and we still respect each other,” he explained, before musing, “I think we both gotta do some soul searching ourselves, and figure out ourselves before we can just try to figure out each other.”

When asked if he wanted to get back with Selena during his sit-down with Ellen DeGeneres last month, Justin replied, “We have a lot of history together, so I’m sure, I mean it possibly could happen.”

“But,” he continued, “I think we’re both just on our own journeys of just figuring ourselves out, and I think maybe once we figure ourselves out we could come together to make an awesome duo — or she’ll find someone awesome, I’ll find someone awesome. I just want her to be happy.”

Meanwhile, in her Elle October cover story, Selena told the magazine she will “forever support [Bieber] and love him.”

When asked if she thought they would get back together the actress-singer replied, “I don’t know!”

In other interviews, the 23-year-old has said she respects Justin and feels respected by him, adding that she is proud of his comeback this year. In her most recent chat with InStyle UK, the Latina starlet said she was finally ready to stop talking about her ex-boyfriend.

“I’m just tired of talking about it,” Gomez told the magazine. “I never intended for my life to become a tabloid story.” Amid reports that the Disney alum has been engaging in mutual “likes” on Instagram with NFL Washington Capitals’ stud Tom Wilson, InStyle noted Selena is dating.

While no-one but the former couple’s opinions matter on this subject, at least three questions are worth asking: Are Justin and Selena emotionally, mentally, and physically ready to move on from each other? Is the Biebs’ throwback photo just a result of boredom or a sign he wants to reunite with his ex?

Lastly, and perhaps most puzzlingly of all, how come Drake has time to comment publicly on the possibly dead Jelena, and not about the popping “Hotline Bling” remix Bieber dropped in October?
