Miranda Lambert Talks Blake Shelton Divorce, Says ‘Nobody Pick A Side’

It took a few months, but Miranda Lambert has finally begun to open up about her divorce from Blake Shelton, and what she has to say may surprise you.

Since her split from Shelton in July, media coverage has painted Lambert as someone who is weeping and wilting under the strain and pressure of her divorce, but Lambert is saying just the opposite. The split from her husband of four years hurt, but Miranda is ready to be strong.

Cosmopolitan reported that Lambert told Page Six, “We will offer you a sweet tea and hug and love you to death, but we will not put up with your s**t.”

Apparently, Lambert is tired of putting up with all of the hoopla surrounding her split from Shelton. In the same interview, Lambert begged fans to move on from the marriage, just as she and the “Honey Bee” singer have done in real life.

“We are real people with real lives and real s**t. We’re both very honest. This is what it is now, and we’re moving forward. We don’t need all the opinions. We just need y’all to be supportive, and nobody pick a side — because there ain’t a side.”

Though both country singers are moving forward with their lives, Shelton appears to be doing so more quickly than his ex-wife. Within just a few months of their divorce, Shelton began dating The Voice co-coach Gwen Stefani. Like Shelton, Stefani had recently split from her spouse, too. Stefani and Gavin Rossdale, who have three children together, filed for divorce in August after more than 13 years of marriage.

Ever since Shelton and Stefani’s relationship was confirmed, stories of Miranda Lambert’s heartbreak have filled websites and news headlines, but the “The House That Built Me” singer is doing the best she can.

Miranda told Cosmopolitan that she’s still emotionally processing the divorce and that, sometimes, things really suck. On those days, she might grab some alcohol and hang out on the porch, she said.

“Some of that might mean nights on my porch crying, drinking whiskey, and going, Man this sucks right now. I don’t necessarily want to know that I have really bad, long, lonely nights ahead of me, but I have had some, and I still have a bunch ahead of me.”

Admittedly, Lambert is still dealing with the emotional turmoil that comes with divorce, but the 32-year-old country star is looking toward the future and is prepared to live a full life, she said.

“I just want to live a life full of everything….It’s about living in the moment and feeling every tinge of pain, then waking up the next day and going, All right, I’m going to ride my ponies. I’m going to have a girls’ night. That’s where I’m gonna live.”

Does living a life full of everything mean another marriage for Miranda? Lambert said that, at this point, she’s not sure, but if she were to ever get married again, she knows that it would be about commitment rather than a marriage license or diamond ring.

“If I ever were to get married again—which is completely not on my radar at all right now — I feel like it’s not about it being a step in life. It’s not about a piece of paper or a diamond. It’s the way you feel about somebody and the commitment in your heart.”

Lambert and Shelton have both come out and said they are still friends — a feeling that Miranda reiterates in her interview with Cosmopolitan.
