One Direction: Did Harry Styles Finally Kick Zayn Malik Into The Tall Grass?

Many One Direction fans were heartbroken when Zayn Malik walked out on the chart-topping group back in March of this year. One Direction were just a few dates into their mammoth “On the Road Again” world tour and were just about to begin recording their fifth album when Malik walked out as a result of suffering from stress.

Malik told One Direction fans that he “wanted to be a normal 22-year-old” and needed to spend time out of the limelight that comes with being a member of One Direction. Determined not to disappoint their fans, One Direction split Malik’s singing parts between them and carried on with both an album and a tour.

When Made in the A.M. was released, J-14 magazine reported that Styles believed it was One Direction’s best album to date. As One Direction fans are well aware, Harry, Louis, Niall, and Liam are now out on a promotional tour in support of the album. When that is complete, the boys will be taking a long break. Of course, many fans are disappointed that 2016 will not see another huge One Direction tour. That said, most fans understand that One Direction are exhausted and both need and deserve some time off to enjoy their success.

Most One Direction fans are still very supportive of Malik and wish him well, but they have every right to be disappointed with Malik’s behavior since he left One Direction. In a recent interview with Fader, Malik seemed disrespectful of his former One Direction bandmates when he indicated that he wouldn’t listen to their music.

“Would you listen to One Direction at a party with your girl? I wouldn’t. To me, that’s not an insult, that’s me as a 22-year-old man. As much as I was in that band, and I loved everything that we did, that’s not music that I would listen to.”

During their promotional interviews, One Direction members have been asked time and again about Malik’s departure from the band. One Direction have tried to be diplomatic about Malik’s departure, and as reported in News Network Australia, Liam Payne indicated that he understood Malik’s decision to leave.

“One Direction was never really Zayn’s kind of bag, if you know what I mean. His taste in music’s a bit different. And I guess that’s kind of what drove him to do what he did in the end, which is not necessarily a bad thing. Everyone’s come out fine from it, thanks to our beautiful fans.”

It now seems that One Direction are finally sick of the questions about Malik. According to Hollywood Life, a source has told them that One Direction and Harry Styles just want to move on from the whole Zayn thing.

“Harry is so incredibly over the Zayn controversy. He doesn’t want to be asked about it in interviews and really doesn’t think fans need to be obsessing about it anymore. He jokes that he doesn’t even want to hear Zayn’s name again.”

CDA News reports that when a fan threw a cutout of Zayn onstage while One Direction were playing, Harry consulted Louis and then kicked Malik’s effigy off the stage. Tomlinson can be seen applauding Harry’s efforts.

Could this be a sign that the One Direction boys are simply fed up with being asked about Zayn? While it is understandable that interviewers are keen to get a soundbite on One Direction’s feelings towards Zayn, it must be pretty tiresome answering the same question time and again.

One Direction are promoting their new album. It is almost nine months since Zayn quit One Direction, and he isn’t on the new album. Aside from questions about Louis Tomlinson and Babygate, Zayn is probably the last thing One Direction want to talk about.

What do One Direction fans think? Is Harry right to leave Zayn in the past?
