‘Lamar Odom’s ‘Life Will Never Be The Same’ Claims Source After Overdose, Khloe Kardashian Finally Able To Resume Visits

A little over a month has passed since a life-threatening overdose sent Lamar Odom to the hospital for intensive care. Despite the time that has elapsed since that fateful night, the former Los Angeles Lakers star is still in the early stages of recovery and will likely face even harder challenges as he attempts to come back from a significant brain injury.

According to PEOPLE, the biggest issue Odom is still dealing with involves his cognitive functions. “Lamar has made some progress, but his cognitive impairment is making life very challenging,” an inside source told the outlet.

At this point, Odom is still trying to learn how to walk on his own, and is working on improving his communication skills, which were badly damaged following the overdose. All of these issues stem from the lack of oxygen his brain received during the incident, and the subsequent strokes brought on by the overdose.

With that in mind, it appears as though Odom will remain in the hospital for a significant amount of time while he continues therapy. Sadly, his life will be changed dramatically even after he is released from care and will likely never return to how it was before the incident.

“Lamar won’t likely leave the hospital for a long time. And when he does, he will need full time care. He can’t take care of himself. Lamar has serious longterm and lasting issues. His life will never be the same as it once was.”

Despite facing tough odds, the source went on to add that Lamar Odom is “a fighter who works hard every day,” offering a little hope that his condition may improve somewhat in the coming months.

Along with his hard working attitude, another thing Odom has going for him is the support from Khloe Kardashian and the rest of her family. In fact, the source stated that Khloe “has been amazing” in her support so far, and is undoubtedly making an impact on Odom’s recovery.

Unfortunately, recent health issues of her own had prevented the reality star from visiting Odom in the hospital. According to MSN, Khloe had been laid up in her home after contracting a nasty staph infection and was unable to go to the hospital at this time. Even still, the Keeping up with the Kardashians star was more anxious about Odom’s condition than the potential dangers surrounding her own health issues.

“Khloé is devastated that she can’t go to the hospital and visit Lamar,” an insider explained to the outlet last week. “That’s the thing that is bothering her most about the infection.”

Because of her infection, Khloe had been ordered to keep her distance from the hospital, especially considering Odom was only recently taken off the critical condition list. “It’s been an emotional and difficult few weeks for Khloé and now she’s sick,” the source stated.

Just yesterday, Khloe was spotted checking into the parking garage at the hospital and even returning to the gym to workout, both signs that she is completely over her staph infections. Which is good for Lamar, considering Khloe is his main support system as he continues to recover from his life-altering overdose.

“Khloé has been amazing throughout Lamar’s recovery,” the insider commented. “Without her support and love, he would have been very lonely. Khloé only deserves praise.”

While Khloe took a round of antibiotics to beat the staph infection, we all wait to learn more about how Lamar Odom is recovering and just what his life will look like at the end of this terrible chapter.
